“Baby! Baby! Look at this; I bought this one for you.” Paul said gladly to Jenna, her girlfriend.
“Come on Paul, you make me feel like it’s my birthday every day, and to tell you frankly, I don’t need another trash in my room.” After telling this to Paul, Jenna picked up her things and immediately left their classroom.
“She didn’t even look at you.” Paul said to the stuffed toy that she was about to give to her girlfriend.
“Paul can be so annoying sometimes, look there’s already lots of stuff in my room, yet he is still planning to add another one. I’d rather go home and take a break.” Jenna called up a taxi then she went straight to their house.
When Jenna arrived at their house, she went straight to her room. While putting her things on her study table, she glanced at her cabinet, and it caught her attention. Her cabinet that was filled with the stuffed toys Paul gave her.
She opened her cabinet, and she picked out the heart shaped pillow, it was Paul’s gift to her during their first year anniversary, she looked at the back of the pillow and there she saw a note, “Please be careful with my heart, because I’m giving it to you now.”
“Crazy” Jenna smiled with what she has read. She again picked out another stuffed toy then she looked at the notes, “While hugging this bear, think of it as if it’s me that you’re hugging. I will always love you Jenna, and that’s until forever. I would never let you shed one tear, and you’ll always be mine, ok? I love so much Baby.”
The last stuffed toy that Jenna picked out was the watch shaped pillow, and as expected there was also a note that says, “If I was ever given a chance to have a second life, I would still choose you, and only you. I love you so much Jenna Pascual.
Tears started to fall down Jenna’s face unexpectedly. She once again looked at her cabinet, she glanced at every stuffed toy that Paul, her boyfriend gave her.
“Paul do really love me that much, I’m so stupid, why weren’t I able to notice that before.” Those came out from Jenna’s mouth with her tone full of regrets.
Who says anything about Jenna not loving Paul? Of course, Jenna loves Paul in return also, but maybe just not as much as how Paul loves Jenna.
“Correct, I shouldn’t have treated him that way; I should’ve shown him and let him feel what I really feel about him.” Jenna wasn’t able to change her clothes yet, she didn’t mind it.
She went out of her room, out of her house, and went straight to Paul’s house, Jenna walked as fast as she could since Paul’s house is just near hers.
It was a nice timing, Paul was just about to go out of the house, when he opened the door, he got shocked with what he saw.
“Ba-baby!” Paul said while he was laughing, he was so happy, then he hugged me, “I’m sorry for what I done earlier Baby, I’m sorry if I pissed you off, I looked for you earlier at our school but I wasn’t able to find you so I just decided to go home. I’m so sorry Baby.” His hug tightened.
Jenna felt Paul’s hug became tighter and tighter, then somewhere inside her she felt something, it’s as if something bad was about to happen.
“Baby, are you ok---“Jenna wasn’t able to finish her question the moment she saw blood on her hands. Some guys caught Jenna’s attention, they were robbers, and they were running towards the door carrying the things they have stolen from Paul’s house.
A guy stopped in front of the both of them, then stared at them, he just passed by, and Jenna heard the loud shot of a gun.
“PAUL!” Jenna shouted while jumping out from her bed, she felt an unknown ache on her shoulders.
“PAUL!? WHERE IS PAUL!?” She stood up; she was heading towards the door when her Mom suddenly went into her room.
“Jenna, my daughter, don’t worry, Paul is already safe and okay.” With her Mom saying this, Jenna felt relieved.
“Thank God he’s okay. But wait, where is he?” Jenna asked her Mom.
They left Jenna’s room, and then they just went straight to the car. Jenna has no idea where her Mom will bring her, somewhere deep inside Jenna she felt this uneasy feeling, she was very nervous.
In just any moment they arrived at a church. Jenna looked at her Mom, and her Mom just responded her with a smile. Jenna went out of their car and there was that tingly nervous feeling again.
“What’s happening?” there were lots of people; and they were all wearing blue, which is the favorite color of Paul.
While walking, Paul’s parents assisted Jenna to a….
Coffin.
Jenna skipped a beat when she saw the coffin.
“Pa-paul.” her tears poured down her face one by one. Her heart tightened as if it’s not allowing her to breath; there were no other words that came out of Jenna’s mouth except for the name of her boyfriend.
“Jenna, we’re sorry if we didn’t say anything about this to you. You know Paul, he’s very stubborn and he won’t stop unless he gets what he wants. This was all a huge mistake, we should’ve told you about this sooner; if we did, Paul would still be with us right now.” Jenna didn’t mind what Paul’s Mom told her; instead she just kept on walking towards the coffin.
“PAUL! Wake up! Get out of the coffin will you? This is not a good joke! Will you just please stand up already?” She just kept on going.
“BABY! What kind of foolishness is this? Look at your Mom, look at everyone! You’re making them all worried, come on stand up! We still have to get the new stuffed toy that you bought me, right? You know, I collected all of them; I stored them in a cabinet, all of them! Come on, stand up! I’ll show you.” Jenna didn’t know what else to do so she sat down the floor because of the major heartbreak that she’s feeling at that moment.
“PAUL CUEVAS! WHY? WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU? WHY THE HECK DID YOU LEAVE ME JUST LIKE THIS? WHY DIDN’T YOU GO TO OUR HOUSE TO CHECK ON ME? SO YOU THINK YOU’RE A SUPER HERO? PAUL! THOSE WERE JUST THINGS! THINGS THAT CAN BE REPLACED! YOU CAN BUY IT ANYWHERE AND ANYTIME, I’LL EVEN HELP YOU BUY THEM! BABY PLEASE, IS THIS WHAT YOU LIKE? IS THIS WHAT YOU’VE PLANNED? CAN’T YOU SEE HOW MUCH BADLY I’M HURT RIGHT NOW, DO YOU LIKE WHAT YOU’RE SEEING RIGHT NOW? PAUL YOU ARE SO UNFAIR! YOU PROMISED ME THAT YOU WILL NEVER LET ME SHED EVEN JUST ONE TEAR.” Jenna kept on yelling, but still the pain in her heart stayed. Paul’s mom didn’t know what to do anymore so she just hugged Jenna.
“Baby, I’m sorry. I’m really sorry if I wasn’t able to show you my real feelings for you, I’m sorry if I wasn’t able to let you feel my love for you, I’m sorry Paul, I’m really sorry. You know if God would let me choose between you being like this or you loving another person, I’d rather choose you loving another person, yes the pain will always be there but hey I’ll still be able to see you. But Baby, why should it have to be like this? This hurts much more than seeing you with another person.” Jenna finally stood up, and her cry became even louder when she saw Paul inside the coffin.
She wiped her tears away, “Don’t worry Paul, we’ll still be together, and this time I’ll be the one who’ll make a way for us to be together, forever.”
She looked at Paul for the last time before running outside the church. People started to scream when they saw Jenna got hit by a car.
Real love is a real sacrifice. It may hurt like hell, you sacrifice, you do crazy things just to be the person you love, you apologize, you forgive, you hope, you pray, you trust, you betray, you cry, you laugh, love is indescribable, but hey the feeling of being in love and being loved feels so good but we can’t deny the fact that this little so called thing love will still come to an ending.
For Jenna and Paul, they proved love was a real sacrifice; they both sacrificed their lives for each other. They may not have a happy ending, but they proved to each other that they really loved one another, until their second life on the hands of God.
