The werewolves made themselves known 58 years ago, and as much humans and werewolves tried to coexists humans couldn't help but reject any idea of living in peace with monsters.
Old families that had already hunted the beasts appeared as the saviors of mankind, they were called Jägermeisters or Hunting master's. They taught others how to kill the beasts, for once humanity banded together in hopes of reclaiming the world for the humans.
After an eight long year war the monsters were victorious, more human casualties were lost than beasts, drastically reducing our kind. Once the war was over the beasts raided the towns in search of their mates and destroying families apart, many children had been abandoned at orphanages, the monsters didn't want their mates children since it was a constant reminder that they had not been faithful and instead formed fell in love with someone other than them.
The only human provinces where in Texas, Florida, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arizona, Arkansas and part of Nevada. Basically the beasts sent us where land for factories and farms where available.
To try and repair relations between humans and beasts they needed a reason to place humans and beasts in the same room without the intentions to kill each other.
Thus the balls were put into place to try and rebuild the bridge between monsters and humans.
Every year on December the 31st at midnight a ball is held in the capital of the remaining human states requiring teens over the age of eighteen to attend, the only purpose of this ball is to help the werewolves find their mates.
This is the year I'm of age to attend, and so is the Alpha Prince.
Since I was born my father has been training me for this very moment, my mission along with five others was to eliminate the prince to show no matter how much the monsters tried to cover the chaos there will never be peace, not until humans are the supreme rulers.
My parents had known each other since they where little and had fallen in love even though they knew they would be taken away by their mates, I was an accident, but they had still loved me. I was a proof of their love, a love that wasn't forced upon them.
My mother's mate took her away from my father and I when I was only two only allowing her to write a letter once a year she would always attach a picture and tell us how much she wished she could leave him. I knew that was why my father pushed me so hard while training, he wanted my mother back.
The beasts sent out the humans to live in rural areas while they lived in the cities and forests surrounding them. while the monsters lived in luxuries in the cities we had to work in factories and farms in the country making anything they told us too.
Even though we lived out in the country they would patrol our towns to make sure the Hunters weren't making plans on a revolt or a hit on the Alpha King.
Even If they tried to blend in it was easy to spot one of them, they were usually bulkier, taller, and tended to have stronger frames their facial features were sharper, but most of all they were attractive, every human knew it but we refused to acknowledge it.
If it wasn't the features that gave them away all you had to do was smell them, weird I know, but they always smelled like the forest, probably from rolling around like dogs. I let out a chuckled making my dad turn to look at me.
"Dawn. Focus. You have to take your training serous, especial the next few days." I winced at his hard tone.
"Don't worry father, he'll never know what hit him." I said while releasing a throwing knife dead center into a sack of sand.
Right only 30 more days before humanity rises again. I have to make the most out of every day.
