The shower was hot, but Miori didn't mind. She braced her hands against the slick shower wall, arching her body and moaning as Junichiro cupped her waist and moved behind her. It was impossible to restrain her voice and she didn't want to. In the moment she could believe to herself that they were the only people who existed in the world.
Junichiro had gentle motions during the night, but now his thrusts were hard and frantic and she loved it. Her hands clenched into fists giants the wall and her toes curled against the shower as she screamed. Her body spasmed and she pushed back hard against him as she reached her peak. He hooked an arm around her waist before she could collapse, his own breathing ragged as he pulled out of her. But he could not hold on himself and her trembled against her body as he spilled onto the floor.
The both sank to their knees, their breathing still harsh and heavy and hearts pounding. Miori found herself smiling and she turned to kiss him. He reciprocated, holding her tenderly and cupping her cheek. When the kiss broke they still sat together for a moment, snuggling close.
As the afterglow slowly faded however, Miori began to slowly sober. "What happens now?" she asked quietly. She opened her eyes and saw that Junichiro was smiling.
"What happens," he said warmly. "Is that Tora and I will finalize our divorce and I will do what I should have done five years ago. I will stand up to my family and I will be with you."
"No matter the circumstances of our breakup, there wasn't much that you could have done to stand against your parents," Miori told him. "Not without getting disowned and be left penniless."
"That can't happen now," Junichiro said. "I have a business degree and it is public knowledge that I will be the next Shachō. My father cannot disown me without causing further problems for himself. I'll get us through this, Miori. I promise."
Miori let Junichiro help her stand up. "You wife...where is she?" she asked him. "When she visited me in the hospital, she implied that your divorce was already finalized. But the rikon todoke you showed me has one stamp on it. Yours and not hers."
Junichiro stiffened, and she saw a look of concern cross his face. "She's with her parents," he said. "But we will get this finalized."
As they finished washing up, Miori felt uneasy at the apparent miscommunication that was going on. Why did Tora Arachi tell me that they were no longer together when she hadn't stamped the rikon todoke?
After a moment though she simply shrugged to herself. I guess it doesn't matter. Both of them told me that they were no longer together, and both said I should be with Juni. I guess filing the rikon todoke is just a formality at this point.
It felt surreal that the one thing she had wished for as a teenager was finally going to come true. Even after everything that happened between Junichiro and her, they still loved each other. And now...now they could finally be together.
"I'll call Kusshin and he can take you home," Junichiro said as they finished getting dressed. He got dressed into a white T-shirt and gray sweatpants. Miori only had her business suit to dress into. "On Monday I will take a personal day to get this paperwork taken care of."
"I'll be in bed preparing for my night shift," Miori said with a small laugh.
"I will get that fixed," Junichiro promised her, but Miori shook her head. "I don't want you to give me special treatment, Juni."
"It's not special treatment," Junichiro said, grabbing the doorknob of the bathroom door. "It's what you deserve."
He opened the door and began to exit the bathroom back into his bedroom, but then he stopped dead in his tracks on the threshold. Miori was walking directly behind him and bumped into his back. "Juni—"
