You swore you would never find yourself dragging your feet going to a college lecture. In high school, you were a rather persistent member of the honor roll, always achieving the highest GPA in your class and always taking part in extracurriculars. That being said, you thought that college would be no different. You would attend your lectures, study hard, stay out of social turmoil, and graduate on the fly.
Still, nothing could have prepared you for the lack of involvement and interest that your professors shared in your education. You swore half the time they were merely there to administer the tests, whilst you were the one with your classmates reading over slides and teaching yourself from the book with every new topic that came up.
"This is bullshit!" Kate exclaimed beside you, a little too loud for your liking, nearly feeling the professor's eyes on the both of you as you nudged her to quiet down.
"No, this is ridiculous. I might as well be paying myself to teach me about human anatomy." You blew out a laugh through your nose, raising your brows as you turned back to the screen of your laptop, looking at the onslaught of assignments for the upcoming week. "It's fucking Friday!"
"It won't be too bad, we can work on them together," the answer didn't seem to please Kate entirely, her head in her hands as she huffed out. It was rather rewarding to see you weren't the only one disappointed in the lack of education being provided.
Kate certainly had no qualms of not letting her opinions be heard. Earlier in the semester, she nearly got into a heated argument with the professor about his egregious amount of work over a holiday weekend.
The two of you met one another in a history class the semester before, finding out quickly you both were on your way to the same degree in the medical field. Now you two had become the best of friends, polar opposites, but you both balanced one another out. Kate was loud, boisterous, and a slut for a good party. You, on the other hand, had no issues with staying in your dorm all hours of the week and weekend, studying and slaving away on your assignments.
The sound of the lecture halls' door creaking open pulled your attention away from your defeated friend, a hand on her shoulder as your eyes landed on the young woman walking into the room. You'd see her once or twice before, brunette hair about shoulder length, eyes a piercing green, and a figure that made you rather envious.
"Hey, Kate," your hand shook her shoulder, a groan meeting the action as Kate pulled her hands from her head.
"What?"
"Who is that? I know she's in some of our classes this semester," you tipped your nose towards the student, now apologizing to an unenthused professor who merely shooed her away to take a seat.
Kate scrunched her brows, vision slightly blurry from her eyes just being buried in her hands, "Wanda Maximoff? What about her?"
You chewed on the inside of your lip, dropping your hand off of Kate's shoulder as you shrugged. She wasn't unnoticeably beautiful to say the least, her features were unique, angelic in a way, with a smile that could make even the biggest frat-boy weak in the knees. "I've just seen her in a lot of our classes, but never met her."
You couldn't take your eyes off of Wanda as she found herself a seat in the hall. Her bag slung off her shoulder as she slipped into her seat, and as if you couldn't already feel the heat in your cheeks just from admiring her, green eyes flashed over in your direction. Her expression was soft, a subtle smile in place on pale-rose lips. You couldn't even manage one in return, quickly snapping your attention back to the muttering of the professor, feeling your cheeks burn red as Kate chuckled lowly in amusement.
