The screen flashed pitch black until letters were formed.
Chapter 1: The Girl Who Lived
Marinette Groaned, "Every single time I look at you, you somehow gain a new title, 'Mara"
"Aww, thank you!" Amara cooed at her sister's expression.
Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much. They were the last people you'd expect to be involved in anything strange or mysterious, because they just didn't hold with such nonsense.
"That..." Amara paused, "is actually really accurate."
Mr Dursley was the director of a firm called Grunnings—
Ron laughed and fell off his chair.
Amara blinked slowly while looking at her redhead friend, "ooookay?"
which made drills. He was a big, beefy man with hardly any neck, although he did have a very large moustache. Mrs Dursley was thin and blonde and had nearly twice the usual amount of neck, which came in very useful as she spent so much of her time craning over garden fences, spying on the neighbours.
Someone muttered quietly, "Lovely family." which to the people that heard him snorted in amusement.
"Huh, as if that isn't creepy at all." Blaise said sarcastically.
The Dursleys had a small son called Dudley and in their opinion there was no finer boy anywhere.
"Nah, anyone else in Hogwarts population is better."
"True 'Mara, true."
The Dursleys had everything they wanted, but they also had a secret, and their greatest fear was that somebody would discover it.
Amara audibly gasped, "Oh Merlin's beard! Did they find the entrance to neverland?!" She said dramatically.
Marinette sighed wistfully, "Ah, neverland would sound so good right now, being a kid forever.." She said dreamily, "Except the fact that it traps you in an island without your parents and every mermaid there is out to kill you." She deadpanned.
"Yeah, except that." Amara grimaced.
They didn't think they could bear it if anyone found out about the Potters.
"I feel so loved." Amara rolled her eyes.
Mrs Potter was Mrs Dursley's sister, but they hadn't met for several years; in fact, Mrs Dursley pretended she didn't have a sister, because her sister and her good-for-nothing husband were as unDursleyish as it was possible to be.
"Good, my parents were at least decent unlike them."
The small inter-house group along with Marinette broke into laughter.
Unbeknownst to them, a little blonde boy was watching them with a frown. He didn't know how they managed to be so happy. To be so joyful despite the problems in the world. Jealousy ran across his veins while watching the friend group.
