As a black girl of immigrant decent nothing is more annoying than having Black and POC characters exist solely to address issues for brownie points. It's tiring.
This fiction is for my own enjoyment.
For nuance.
To prove black is not monolith.
For diversity
For joy
For creativity
For all things good.
To me nothing is more annoying than seeing my very really issues placed in every work of fiction because...
It's not taken seriously.
My trauma is real. Not shock factor. Not plot device. It's real.
I write to escape my issues. My stories are my Eutopia. Every good story needs a conflict or a problem but when they aren't white it doesn't always have to be about them not being white. We have other social issues, get creative.
Miriam is black. And many other characters. It's not important to plot but it is to me.
To all Black and POC folks. You are welcome. Love to have you here.
I hope you like this story that has been marinating in my head. I hope it aged like fine wine or Beyonce.
I've always been a fanfiction type writer but I love original stories too but they take a minute to structure themselves in my head.
This story isn't even done but I said fuck it cuz I'm bored and you live once.
I hope this story will grant me new friends and a whole lot of fun. If this gets big enough I'll make a discord server or something :)
