It is but merely a vague memory...the outside...
Trapped in this shopping mall, with no means possible of escape. I feel my sanity slipping away as each day goes by. They treat us like animals. Throwing food in occasionally, then leaving without a trace. I try to slip through the bars each time they leave, but with great heartache, I fail. "Fuck that Doctor for causing this" I mumble fiercely under my breath followed by a hopeless sigh.
"I need a smoke..."

Rumors say that a man Dr. J. Williams was working for the Australian Government with at least 30 other doctors worldwide to try and find a cure for the Covid-19 virus. No one knows exactly how long they had been working, but it's said they were working nonstop for months before the incident. The scientists were conducting experiments on the virus, changing its properties and then testing it on rats and other small animals to see what effects it would have. This led to a discovery.
A gruesome one...
The rats would squeal for hours on end, they would attack and infect each other with the virus they were injected with. It didn't take long for the animal rights activists and protesters to discover what was happening to the small animals and break into the lab. The police's efforts couldn't keep these activists from making the biggest mistake of their lives, and we all have to pay for it.
Anyway! Long story short, Dr. J. Williams and the other doctors had transformed the virus so much that it became a whole new 'Zombie virus'. A faster, more treacherous virus, it infected over half the world's population in a matter of weeks.
That was 3 years ago now, the ones left un-infected formed gangs and alliances to take over the towns they were in. The world fell into utter chaos, with no real leaders or government to keep order. It's tough but it's the way life is now, kill or be killed.
