Delilah (Delly) Desiree Carter was born on February 8, 1996 to John and Susan. She was born in the city on her mother's first visit to a hospital. The first three years of her life consisted of running around open fields on unsteady feet in the golden countryside. Her younger brother came in June when Delly was three years old, bright blue eyes in a basket on the kitchen counter. Delly would get on her tippy toes to try to peek over the counter and look at her brand new baby brother as he laid peacefully in a blanket. Delly's eyes were quite different from her brother's, they were brown like her father's, but a calming light brown that seemed almost like honey was poured on them.
With two children, Delly's mother decided that would be it, but another one was one its way by Delly's fifth birthday. It was a miscarriage and poor Susan cried the night her third child came out as a stillborn. They buried the unborn baby the next morning. The third child haunted her mother and sometimes late at night Delly could hear the faint sounds of her mother crying and whispering the name "Abella"- the name of the unborn Carter. Delly and her brother had a happy childhood nonetheless, it was filled with days of freedom and the sun shining brightly against the light blue sky. The loss of her would've been sister made Delly cherish her only sibling and made her protective towards him.
Delly loved going outside and one of her most prized possessions was her straw hat that she was constantly chasing when the countryside winds blew it off her head. At the age of seven, Delly would work to collect eggs in the family farm and would wash clothes with her mother on Laundry Sundays. Her brother, Timothy would help her with the chores and would follow her around whenever she went. Even from a young age, you could see that Delly's relationship with her brother was a strong sibling relationship, so unlike sibling rivalries. Instead, Timothy admired Delly and Delly loved Timothy.
Other than her brother and daytime adventures, Delly liked to dream of living a life as an actress and made the open fields her stage and the wildflowers her audience. When Delly was nine she would try to mimic the voices of old fashion actors and actresses, the ones that lived on the VHS tapes the Carters owned. Delly never went to a real school, she was homeschooled and because of this she gained a love of books even though she did not consider them to be as entertaining as movies. Even in her preteen years, she lived safe and sound in the innocent countryside, a place so quiet, so peaceful, so unlike the rest of the world.
At twelve Delly went into the city for the first time since her birth and was so afraid of the rest of the world, hiding her head in her father's chest as they walked down the street. When she spoke with her brother about their adventure she told him "There's so many people and the world is just so loud" and her brother responded with his blue eyes glowing "Yes and it's wonderful".
