✍️ Writers POV ✍️ :

Mr. Brown walks to the music room, where he is expecting Mrs. Carters and Winter to be, to discuss their plan to get Winter out of her 'fathers' care. He and Carters are actually engaged. It's been a year since they got engaged. They didn't tell anyone they were even dating. Knowing that if Winter found out it may have the opposite effect of what they want.

Her trust. Winter doesn't trust men. So Mr. Brown stuck to the less abrupt approach of gaining her trust. While Mrs. Carters didn't have to be as subtle, she still took it slow. That didn't mean she didn't notice Winters unease every time she asked her a question about her home life. It was hard to miss. The shaking, that consumed her entire body. The way she would stutter out an answer. Or the forced reply that 'everything's fine'.

Mr. brown couldn't help but get lost in thought on the way. If we lost her trust, it would make it that much more difficult to get her out of her 'fathers' care.

He and Mrs. Carters have suspected abusive treatment for over a year now. Winter would show up to school with bruising, limping, clear immense pain, flinch when approached, stiffen when spoke to as if she expects pain. They would never harm her, and they wanted that to be clear. So they tried to make that as easy as possible. If that meant only one of them gaining her trust then that's how they would do it.

I hope this works. I hate seeing the fear in her eyes when she talks to me. It pains me to see it.  If I could kill her so called father I would. Who the hell would treat a child like that. It's horrible. He should be behind bars, or better yet dead. He doesn't deserve to see the light of day, or the life that is as beautiful as Winters or anyone else. He should never get the chance to do this again.

Winter is so nice, she found a raccoon ,of all creatures, on the playground last month and befriended it. It was in the school newspaper every week for the whole month. She's smart, has straight A's except in PE. She misses PE so frequently cause of her injuries, that she can't be graded. She's beautiful with brown wavy hair, that flows wondrously down her back. Blue eyes that look as though you're looking into the sky or maybe the clearest of oceans. They're like pools of joy, only no joy left to be seen behind them, now replaced with fear, sadness and resentment. And innocent. Something never leaves her eyes is her innocence, and I hope she never loses that look as a result of her pain and sadness. I can't imagine that.

Arriving at the music room frees Mr. Brown from his never ending thoughts about the sweet girl. He hears faint mumbling through the door. Recognizing one of the voices as Mrs. Carters, he assumes that Winter is already in the room. He can't quite make out the conversation through the door. It just sounds like jumbled chattering, so he cracks the door open slowly. Trying to avoid drawing attention to himself as much as possible, as not to scare or frighten Winter.
