"I want to travel." I whisper, starring at the clock, watching the minutes move by slowly.
"Travel? And leave this big, beautiful city behind?" Chase says sarcastically.
I smile, though he can't see. I feel his light touch on my back, up and down and up again.
I turn to look at him, "This town is boring and small, Chase. An 'all-you-can-eat' night at Gran's is a town meeting. I want places with more than just lakes and trees, and small wood cottages every couple of miles. I want to be just another face in the crowd, not 'Candice Fern' the girl that did this or that or whatever. I want cities with tall buildings or beaches with beautiful sunsets, foreign cities with five languages. I just want more."
I watch as Chase looks everywhere but my eyes, as if thinking of something right to say.
"Then I'll go with you." He says, meeting my gaze as he says the last word.
I don't think I've ever been as in love with him as I am right now. Just laying next to him, watching him say those words as a flicker of light passes through his blue eyes.
"Are you being serious?" I ask, a smile slowly forming on my face.
"Yes, Candice Fern, I, Chase Downright, want to travel the world with you." He kisses my forehead after he says it and smiles.
It's crazy. In Castlin there is a population of 2,456, and out of those 2,456 people, that I am stranded here with, I have managed to find him.
A boy that lightens my mood and helps me see the possibilities beyond this small town.
"What are you thinking about?" Chase asks, due to my silence.
"You." And that's been my answer since the day I met him.
