chapter one- everything started

Hey! I am Graycei Mae Marie. I am 19 and live with both of my parents. My best friend Nicolas is my negihbour. If you were to open my window our lawns would be connected. I met Nic in kindergarten. We met during nap time when we got laid next to each other. We couldn't sleep but everyone else was sound asleep and the teacher was busy. We talked the entire time whispering and sharing small giggles. We sat next to each other in that class and during nap time ever since. Oh, and during things like family dinners that I had he would come. Nobody in my family liked Nic but me and my sister. My parents think him and his triplet brothers are a bad influence. So I have lessons with their mother, Mary Lou. None of us know what they are for but we spend that time all together with it being her, me, nic, matt, and chris. We are both tripelts so we've always connected like that. The only difference is i have a sister and a brother and he has 2 brothers. That's enough about Nic and his family. My triplet siblings. My sister loves me, I am her favorite for sure, but we are also best friends. My brother is the oppisite he hates me and exludes me a lot. He is just a momma's boy. Growing up I got told not to eat anything other than salad because i was the 'pretty skinny marie' that's not true because my sister, Hallie Grey Marie, is so beautiful and prettier than me. Hallie is the oldest triplet. She knows everything and keeps it secret and loves hanging out with me. Zack Marie is the youngest and hangouts out with Hallie because he doesn't like me. My mother has a rule that Zack can't be around me. I've never minded though because for the past 3 months i've been at a job I quit. During those 3 months i would hangout with Nic and his family even more. My mother is a very controlling person. "wear this" or "wear that" I've always listened because I am scared of what would happen if I didn't.

STARTING THE STORY!!!

"gray," Hallie whispers and is shaking me awake.
"hmmm?" I mutter opening my eyes.
"Mom said your gonna be late but Nic has been trying to get your attention for a good hour and a half," She says.
"You coming along today?" i ask her.
"Of course! I miss my little sister since fucking Zack doesn't leave me alone," She says hugging me. I hug her back and change putting the outfit my dad put on my bed in a bag. I look out my window after getting ready to make sure he is. He nods and I nod grabbing my keys and walking downstairs.
"I AM GOING TO WORK!!" I yell making sure Hallie can hear me.
"I'M GOING TO A FRIEND'S HOUSE!!" Hallie yells. She comes running down the stairs and we walk outside. NIck comes turning the corner.
"HALLIE!! GRAY!!" He says and pulls us into a big hug.
"I missed you too nic!" We say hugging him back.
"I thought today you guys could meet Matt and Chris since Gray has her first little metting thing with us this afternoon. I look at Hallie and she looks at me.
"Sure!" She says. I shrug. We get in my car and I drive since I am supposed to be at my old job. I park my mini van next to the already parked mini van.
"ah yes! The mini vans!" I sigh getting out of the mini van.
"g!" mary lou says running up to me.
"hey momma!" I say hugging her back.
"What is that?" She asks pointing to the gift bag with 'mary lou' written on it in bubble letters.
"It's for you!" I say and give it to her. She opens it and a big smile appears on her face.
"GRAYCEI MAE MARIE!!" she says excited. That causes the door to open and 2 boys appear at the door.
"what happened?" They ask confused walking over there.
"Graycei got me bubbles!" she says showing the boys infront of her.
"There is a gas station my friend wants me to meet her at," hallie whispers to me.
"I'll be back!" I say getting the keys from my pocket.
"Come back and stay safe!" Mary lou says to me.
"I will. I love you," i say.
"I love you!" Nic and Mary Lou say in sync. Hallie jumps in the passenger seat and I jump in the driver seat. I start the car and turn Elmer, Yung Pleit, on and turn it up all the way. Everyone is standing there looking at us as we yell the lyrics. I back out of the driveway and go to the gas station.
"Thanks ass," Hallie says kissing my head as we pull into the gas station.
"Anytime," I respond and Nic calls me. Hallie waits to see what happens as I accept.
"Hey," Someone that isn't Nic says.
"hello," I say.
"MATT!! LEAVE HER ALONE!!" i hear nic yell.
"but i'm thirsty," he whines.
"What do you want to drink?" I ask him while I smile.
"GRAYCEI DO NOT BUY HIM ANYTHING!!!" nic says.
"but he's thirsty," I say.
"bye ladybug," hallie says hugging me.
"bye pooh bear," I say and hug her back. She gets out and gives me a thumbs up letting me know i can leave. I start to drive back and listen to Matt complain the whole time.
"Matthew," i say.
"Yea?" He asks.
"Im outside in my mini van if you hurry up and run out here we can go get you a drink," I say to him.
"GRAYCEI MAE MARIE DO NOT GET HIM A DRINK!!" i can hear nic yell.
"just tell bernard to hurry the fuck up," i say.
"COMING!!" I hear matt faintly yell. Nic hangs up and I watch the front door fly open then fly close. Matt runs outside and runs to the passenger seat. I lock the car and just watch him.
"open the door!!" He laughs. I laugh and unlock the car.
"Get in!!" i say rolling his window down.
"fuck you," he says.
"I could just get everyone a drink but you," I say.
"No!" He says all sweet with a smile on his face. He gets comfy in his seat.
"what a way to meet this bitch," I sigh.
"Someone is calling you," he says.
"why do you have my phone?" I ask him.
"stole it from your pocket," he says with a smile.
"Who was it?" I ask him.
"hazel," he says.
"call her back. my password is 082103," i say to him.
"why my month my year and a different day?" He asks.
"August was the month 3 of my favorite people were born, 21 was the day hallie was born and 03 is the year all three of you were born," i respond.
"okay i am calling her back," he replies.
"Hey!" Hazel says. Matt looks at me and i nod.
"heyyyyyyyyyyy!" Matt replies.
"Who the fuck," she says.
"TURN!!!" Matt yells seeing a walmart.
"Matt what the fuck!" I say turning to him.
"hazel hung up," matt says as I park the car.
"I don't care," i say putting my phone in my pocket.
"holy shit!" we say in sync as we walk in.
"Matt that is too many people," i say
"it's okay stay with me," he says.
"get on my back so i don't lose you," i joke around.
"i'm not that short," he sighs and jumps on my back.
"okay we have to hurry i get off work in 45 mintues," I say.
"why the hell are you with me when your supposed to be at work?" he says.
"I quit 3 months ago not supposed to be hanging out with you guys it's a long story," i explain.
"is that why there is a fucking bag on the floor with clothes in it?" He asks.
"Matthew stop going through my shit," i say.
"you guys are a really cute couple," someone says.
"thanks! but we aren't dating," we reply in sync.
"but you guys look like you guys are dating," she says.
"I don't care we just said we aren't dating," we say. She sighs and walks away.
"oh shit!" i say as I feel matt falling off my back. He jumps off my back and jumps on my back again.
"You guys are the cutest couple i've ever seen," some guy says.
"thanks but we aren't dating," I say.
"You sure?" He asks.
"I am very sure we aren't dating you old ass bitch!" i snap. I pay and fastly walk out and load the car. Matt jumps off my back.
"Do not move!" He says grabbing the empty cart. I nod and lean against my car. I get on tiktok and don't move.
"what's a pretty girl like you doing out here all alone?" matt asks walking up. I put my phone in my pocket and go along with it.
"I'm just waiting for my hottie to come back," i respond.
"who is that?" He asks me.
"Matthew Bernard Sturniolo," i say.
"He sounds like a hot dude," He says hyping himself up.
"Oh yes he is," i say.
"if only she knew," he whispers to himself but i ingore it and start my car. My dad sarts calling me.
"Shit," i say.
"what?' matt asks not looking.
"hey dad!" I say causing matt to go dead silent.
"your mother took my phone but i wanted to let you know to come home in any clothes you would like," he says fastly.
"okay thanks! i'll let you go before we both lose our dinner," i say.
"i love you," we say in sync and he hangs up.
"favorite fast food place?" Matt asks starting conversation.
"i've never had fast food cause i was the skinny marie i get salad," I say as i pull into his driveway.
"gate tonight 12," he says.
"okay," i say and unload everything.
"waht's happening?" Nic asks.
"going home, love you," i say.
"i love you stay safe," he responds.
"matt," i say to him.
"goodbye gray. text me," he says hugging me.
"i will. i love you bye," i respond.
"i love you," he says. I get in my car. I get to my house and i'm by myself. I walk to my room and lock my bedroom door. I sit on my bed and set an alarm for 4:30. It was 12:45. I lay on my bed and i am about to fall asleep when there is a knock on my window.
"leave!" i yell. It was my ex.
"why?"he asks. I get up and close my blinds and lay back down. another noise. I get up and open the blinds to find matt.
"go home!" i say opening the window a little bit.
"I wanted to hangout," he says. I smile and let him in my room.
"stay in here the entire time," I say. there was a knock. matt sits on my bed and I answer the door.
"hey sis," hallie says. I sigh and let her in.
"hey hale," i say closing the door.
"hey matt!" she says sitting next to him.
"hey hallie," he says. I smile and lay back down.
"Shit!!" hallie flys up.
"What?" I ask her.
"I was supposed to meet my boyfriend 30 mintues ago!!" she says.
"have fun i love you." i say throwing her my keys.
"I love you!" she says closing my door behind her.
"i'm taking a nap," i say laying down.
"dude wake the fuck up," matt says and I look at him.
"you can take a nap and lay behind me," I smile.
"Your a bitch," he says giving in and laying behind me.
"I can push you out the window," i say smiling.
"GRAY!!" He says playing with my hair.
"sorry," I say and next thing I know i am asleep with Matt behind me.
"GRAYCEI MARIE!!!" My mom yells at the door.
"Shit! Hide!" i mutter getting up. he was asleep so i simply didn't bother.
"yes?" I ask answering the door.
"me, your father, hallie, and zack are leaving to have fun you can't go," she says.
"okay," i mutter and close the door. I walk over to my bed where matt was still asleep but now in my spot.
"GRAYCEI MAE MARIE!!" hallie yells. Matt jumps awake. she is never like this.
"yes??" I yell.
"get your ass down here!!!" She says. matt jumps on my back and i run down stairs to wehere Hallie was sitting.
"why is there a boy on your back and why is he in my house?!" My mom flips.
"he is my friend! Sorry!" hallie lies.
"Why was he on her back then?!" she yells again.
"I was already down here so i texted gray and asked if she could come down with matt," Hallie lies again but doesn't break the lie.
"Oh okay! Keep the boy away from Graycei," My mom says and leaves. Everyone is gone besides matt, me, and hallie.
"why did you just lie for me?" I ask her.
"I have seen how close you and Matt have gotten and I would fucking die if i watched and heard mom tell you that you can't see him anymore," She says.
"we haven't gotten that close," I say.
"what was going on at walmart? I was there," she says.
"fuck off," matt says grabbing me making me sit next to him.
"I ship," Hallie says and matt wraps his arm around me. I flip her off.
"Bitches we're home!!!!!!!" My mom makes her awesome entrance. Hallie was alseep on the edge leaning against me. I was in the middle with and arm around hallie and asleep leaning on Matt and Matt was asleep on the arm.
"GRAYCEI MAE MARIE! HALLIE GREY MARIE!!!" my mom yells causing all of us to jump awake. Hallie fastly sits up and pulls me off of matt and next to her. Matt just gives her a look.
"yes?" i ask.
"Why are you cuddled up with a boy? Hallie did you lie to me?" my mom says.
"She wasn't cuddled up with Matt. She fell asleep leaning against me and i got up causing her to fall towards matt and he was already asleep so when i came back they were asleep so i just let them sleep," hallie lies and we all go along with it.
"okay. hallie walk him home," my dad says.
"gray will you come with us? I don't wanna walk home alone," hallie lies again.
"Fine. I need stuff from upstairs i'll be back," I say. I run upstairs and put shoes on. I get my phone and grab matt's hoodie. I throw matt's hoodie on and run downstairs.
"hey matt!" I say. i give him a hug.
"hey gray," he says. We leave.
"we used to be friends," i say causing everyone to stop and look at me. "yea but we cool now."
"Gray you scared the living shit out of me!" Matt says. We take him home and walk back home. i lay in my bed and i am about to fall asleep again when someone makes a noise against my window. it was chris. My backstory with Chris is matt pushed me off a swing and he watched. he gave me his swing and yelled at matt. that was when i figured out i was gonna be stuck with chris for ever. we are also the closest. mainly becasue we both love physical touch. today was the first day where we hadn't hung out yet. I didn't mind because he has his own life. I smile and open the window going out there. hallie wasn't friends with Chris so I always had to sneak Chris around. I get on the roof and we get down and walk hand in hand.
"our place?" I ask looking at him.
"i heard they are taking that place down," He says.
"no way," i say looking at him. We sat on an old abandonded hospital now watching our other place slowly fall as we sit for hours talking.
"I'm sorry i haven't seen you today," he apoligizes.
"It's fine i promise," I reply as we lay and look at the orange brown sky.
"what time are your lessons with mom or whatever the fuck it is?" He asks me.
"30 mintues!" i say. we jump up and start walking.
"Hallie and Mom were both talking about Barnes and Nobles," Chris says.
"oooo," i say. we just walk with my earbuds in sharing and listening to some banger music. We walk through our windows and my mom knocks on the door.
"lessons with mary lou," She says. I nod and run downstairs and walk to mary lou's house. I just walk in and Mary Lou is getting blankets and nic, matt, and chris argue about who is sitting next to me.
"Gray who are you gonna sit with?" mary lou asks clearly annoyed that the 3 boys won't be quiet.
"i wanna sit by chris," I say and jump onto Chris. That causes him to almost fall backwords. I get off Chris and grab our favorite blanket and go to
"gray pick your movie," mary lou says. it was my turn. sometimes instead of it just being me and nic it would be all of us and we would watch movies.
"you might need this," matt says. i look over and he has the remote.
"i'm getting a drink," i say getting up. matt throws it and even though i am not looking i catch it.
"what the fuck!" He says. I look at him and smile. I get a drink and run back in there.
"little mermaid," chris whispers to me. I shake my head no and get on netflix. I turn on Five Feet Apart and put my arm around chris.
"gray?" Chris asks looking at me.
"yea?" I ask looking at him. I kick my seat up and let him lay his head in my lap and my arm still around him. once chris finds it too upsetting he sits up and just hugs me while he crys. Once the movie ends he wipes his tears and keeps on hugging me.
"gray come on!" mary lou says. We all jump up and I hug them.
"bye nic love you," i say as i hug nic.
"bye love you," he responds and hugs me tighter.
"bye chris. i love you," i say giving him a long comforting hug.
"bye gray. i love you," he responds. i had to wait for matt because he was talking to mary lou.
"bye gray. i love you," matt says and gives me a big comforting hug.
"by matt. i love you," i say hugging him. me and mary lou sit at the table and talk until my mom texts me.
"bye mom. i love you," I say giving mary lou a big comforting hug.
"goodbye g. I love you," she says. I walk home and once I get to my room my dad is sitting on my bed.
"graycei mae," my dad says. he has always called me ayce.
"dad?" i say confused.
"GRAYCEI AND HALLIE!!!" my mom yells. my mother nods and me and hallie walk downstairs hand in hand side by side. My dad was infront of us because he didn't want my mom yelling at us.
"yeah?" Hallie asks.
"Do not say a word," My father demands. We turn towards him.
"why?" me and hallie ask in sync.
"just go ahead and go to Barnes and Nobles and we'll be down there later," my mother says. we nod and run upstiars getting everything. then we run back downstairs and leave. since hallie just got her driver's license we have been sharing my car. She sat in the driver seat and i don't complain i just give her the keys. We get there and i run inside with hallie next to me. we get inside and she jumps on my back and we walk to the romance section. her favorite.
"hey can we sit down for a bit?" Hallie asks me.
"yea of course. stay right here," i say. she nods and i run to my car and get her a snack and a water i keep in a bag for her. i run back inside and give her it. "sorry i took so long." she eats her snack and slowly drinks the water.
"thank you eeyore," she says hugging me.
"anytime pooh bear," i say. We start looking at books again. Then mom and dad walk in meaning Zack probably stayed home. They walk up to us. Hallie was still holding her water slowly drinking it.
"why are you not wearing what i picked!?" my mom flips out. i was wearing hallie's clothes because she never cared since my mom never let anyone buy me clothes other than clothes that reveal my body.
"because she can," hallie says.
"hallie grey stay out of this," my mom says mad. "why the fuck are you in your sisters clothes?!" she yells mad.
"i'm going to the bathroom," i say. my mom and hallie nod letting me know to just go. I walk over there fidgeting with my hands. I run into matt who was trying to get my attention. "oh s-sorry," i mutter.
"come here," he says pulling me into the soundproof bathroom. I watch him lock us in.
"w-what?" I ask concered. I sat in the corner fidgeting with my hands. I hadn't eaten because i always did something bad.
"hey hey hey," he says calmly walking over to me. "calm down. everything is going to be okay. i promise." he says hugging me. I hug him back. I nod okay and we walk out of the bathroom. my mom was yelling at my sister and my dad becasue they let me go to the bathroom. Tears fill my eyes. "everything's going to be okay." He whispers and puts his hands in mine so i stop picking my skin.
"i'm so sorry," i say and hug him.
"it's okay. everything is okay. calm down. just remember," He starts. I know what is happening so I stop hugging him and he grabs my hands. "deep breaths in." he watches me.
"deep brethes out," we say in sync.
"thank you for that. that really helped. i love you matt," I cry into his shoulder. He hugs me back.
"you've helped me wihtout knowing it. i love you so much gray," he says. he slowly pulls out of the hug and wipes my tears.
"your my bestfriend," i say.
"your my bestfriend," He repeats.
"to infinity," i say.
"and beyond," he finishes. we hug each other and i walk back over to hallie.
"pick out three books then we are leaving," my dad says poiletly. me and hallie nod and walk away together. I ended up picking Finishing Cinderlla, Don't look, and Little Girls Sleeping. Hallie picks Dead Voices, City of Ghosts, and How to dissapear. We pay then walk to the triplets since our mom and dad already left.
"hey!!" nic says and hugs us then hugs us indiviualy.
"hey," i respond matching his energy. Chris looks at me.
"gray come here," Chris says walking somewhere. I follow him smiling as he attempts to moonwalk.
"yea?" I ask hugging him.
"did you talk to matt?" He asks.
"yea a couple mintues ago," i say trying to explain without saying i had an anxiety attack.
"okay. just let me know if he hurts you," chris says and smiles.
"kindergarden. the swing. he destroyed me," i sigh. We laugh and walk back to the group.
"where's my hug?" matt asks as hallie had hugged nic and matt and i had hugged nic and chris.
"i'm getting to you," i say and walk up to him. I give matt a big hug.
"shit! gray we have to leave!" Hallie says.
"bye nic i love you," I say hugging nic.
"bye love," nic says and hugs me back.
"bye babe i love you," i say and hug chris after nic.
"bye babe i love you," chris says.
"bye matt. i love you," I say hugging him.
"bye gi. I love you," he says and hugs me. I grab mine and hallie's books and i go to the car. I sit passenger and hallie jumps to the driver seat. Matt texting me the entire way back.
