It was a bright and sunny day at Beach City. The birds were chirping, the sky was filled with majestic clouds that spread across the sky, and you sat out on a bench with your baked goods in hand.

You've never been in this place your entire life, but hearing how wonderful it sounded, you wanted to go check it out. There had been strange things happening here, partly because of the "aliens" that live here, but you were fine with it. Even though the world had almost ended and word of this small town got on the news at times, its always been a place you've wanted to go. Now you're here.

You opened your package, cookies inside as you pulled one out, putting your teeth into it and chewing softly with a wide smile across your face. You watched the beach and the sand as the water brushed up against it. It was soothing. Relaxing even.

After you were finished with your cookies, you crumbled the bag into a small ball in your palm, scrunching it up as you held it tightly. You slowly rose up from the bench and walked over to a nearby trash can, throwing your garbage away. You walked along the sidewalk, looking at all the strange and different types of gems you saw.

You smiled to yourself, stopping in front of a house. It was an old house, but neatly kept. The lawn was mowed, and the white fence along it made it look even nicer. Homey even. You opened the fence and walked to the front door, finding your keys before a sudden voice behind you interfered.

"Hey!" It called in a friendly tone.

You turned around. You saw a tall woman with an afro, and glasses perked against her face. Her body was slim and tall, representing a feminine figure. You smiled. "Uh, yeah?" You responded.

"Are you new around here?" The woman shifted her glasses, smiling softly. "Huh, oh, yea. I just moved in. I wanted to check out Beach City. It seemed fitting, strange, and different from city life." You explain softly. "Why?"

"I just knew I haven't seen a face quite like yours around here before." She chuckled, almost knowingly. Like she knew something you possibly couldn't. "Would you like me to show you around? Free tour?"

You smile nervously, thinking of a red flag pop up in your head, but you remember you are no longer in a city full of creeps. "Uhmm, sure.." you hesitantly speak. You assume the lady before you is a gem, as her color is strange. It's not a normal skin color, but reddish. "Just let me get ready. It won't take long. Is that okay?"

"Take all the time you need. I'll be here." She smiled, and you smiled back. You open your door and walk inside. There is hardly any furniture. You're freshly out of your parents home, an adult. You are 21. It took you a while to gather money, travel, and then get a house with the help of your parents. So you have little to no furniture. Your bed is just a mattress on the floor with a pillow and blanket. You couldn't forget your stuffed bear.

You grab a jacket and slip it on to protect you from the cold. It was autumn, so it was a bit chilly out. You then make your way outside, seeing the woman stand where you last saw her. You closed and locked the door behind you.

"So, how long have you been here..?" You curiously ask as a conversation starter, walking out of the gate. She smiled. "Over 1,000 years." It sounded exaggerated to you, but her tone and facial expression proved otherwise.

"You don't even look a year over 100," you awkwardly mutter, causing the gem before you to laugh. "Thank you. Gems don't age, but I guess you didn't know that. The names Garnet."

"Oh, Garnet! A pretty name. My name is Y/N.." she smiles at you before she begins walking. You follow behind her.

Now looking around your surroundings, you can see that there is slowly growing to be more and more gems and humans walking together. It was like everyone lived in harmony.
