"Red..."
Silver sighed in relief and sat down as he saw Red. "I read your message." Red said simply before sitting down on the ground next to Silver, although he winced a little from pain from his left shoulder. "Red, can you tell me what happened?" Red looked at him in confusion.
"I heard about the car crash. What happened?"
Red's face filled with worry. He didn't wish to relive the details of it, considering that Gold's mother was killed from the accident and how he, Gold, and Yellow almost died in it. He sighed quietly before taking off his hat. "It was horrible." Red started. Silver looked at him. Red's voice sounded shaky. Was he gonna burst into tears? Regardless, he let Red speak the best he could.
"It was very horrible. Me, Gold, and Yellow...we were talking after we finished hanging out in Goldenrod City. Suddenly, the other driver drives straight toward us and Gold's mom wasn't quick enough to move. The man's card hit us head first. Gold's mom took action immediately and tried to protect us, but in the end...we all got seriously injured."
Silver's eyes widened hearing the details. He knew the car crash was bad, but he didn't know it was that bad.
"I dislocated my left shoulder and broke part of my ribs. I also suffered a head injury but luckily it wasn't severe nor critical. Yellow suffered the same injuries as me. While she didn't dislocate anything, her right leg was broken from the impact. Gold broke his right arm and that there was glass shards on his arm that doctors had to remove. He also broke some parts of his ribs as well."
Red swallowed as he thought of what to say next.
"And Gold's mom...she suffered extensive injuries. She tried to protect us, but at the cost of her getting really really hurt. But in the end...she..."
A tear fell down Red's face. Silver rubbed his back with his hand to ease him or try to comfort him. "She died...and Gold didn't take it too well." Tears began to fill Silver's eyes. He talked to her a few times and he always thought of her as a mother figure, but to think that she died trying to protect her son and his friends.
...Damn.
"Arceus...Red, I'm so sorry, I didn't know." Silver said as he gently pulled Red in a hug, doing his best to not nudge his left shoulder. Red hugged back, doing his best not to disturb his left shoulder. "Since then, Gold hasn't been the same ever since." Red explained. "He's just been distant. Sure, he interacts with us...but other than that, he just became...cold and distant. I'm not sure why."
That got Silver concerned almost immediately.
"Um...Red?"
"Yeah...?"
"Did the car crash do more damage than what the doctors said?"
Red went silent as his eyes widened and he stared at Silver. "Do...do you think so?"
Silver nodded. "Yeah...he was cold and distant towards me as well." Silver explained. "I stayed at his house yesterday but he was too cold towards me. Usually he puts up my shit with a bright attitude, but he flat out told me to leave his house if I was going to treat him like shit. It's like...he didn't remember me at all."
"Oh, Arceus...oh goodness..."
Red shook his head in worry. "Gold really did change after that car crash...goodness." Silver nodded in agreement. "Do you think it's because of the trauma from the accident?" Silver added and Red couldn't help but worry even further. Was the trauma this severe enough to inflict repression on him?
"Maybe..." Red replied back in a quiet voice.
"I just...I just want to talk to Gold..." Silver said as he felt tears rising in his eyes. "I just want to make things right with him...to tell h-him I'm sorry about w-what I did..." He began sobbing, lamenting about how much he screwed up with how he left Gold. Red rubbed his back with his right hand in a way to comfort him. He did a one arm hug with his right arm as Silver clutched onto him.
Red couldn't help but feel the pain and sorrow in Silver's sobbing. He continued to comfort the crying red haired boy. After a while, Silver stopped and Red looked at him. "Better?" Red asked and Silver nodded silently while drying his tears from his eyes. Suddenly, they both heard laughing and they turned to the source.
Silver's heart tightened up on seeing the source.
It was Crystal and Gold laughing as they seemed to be talking to each other. "G-Gold...what...what?" Silver whispered in disbelief. Red's eyes widened from seeing the source. "Gold..." Red said quietly and looked at Silver, who was clenching his hands into fists as he growled.
He was jealous, alright.
They saw Crystal and Gold walking out of New Bark Town to take a stroll to Arceus knows what.
Red noticed Silver was still gritting his teeth as he was slowly calming down. "Hey, uh...Silver? Maybe it's best if you stay in my house for the time being." Silver looked at him and nodded in agreement. Until Gold gets his shit together...and maybe until he also gets his shit together, there was no way he was going to stay with Gold.
"Yeah... that's fine." Silver replied and Red nodded.
