Y/CN POV:

"And then he has the audacity to tell me that he does spend time with me and that I should be more productive!" I complained to Madeleine Cookie as he listened. "He was never the easiest cookie to get along with, but I'm sure you can work it out! Maybe you just need to have a serious talk with him." Madeleine suggested. "I've tried... Too many times even." I replied sad and regretful. "Tried to help him with his work?" "He doesn't let me." "Tried to confiscate it?" "Please I'd be dead." "Went to the academy???" "... Yep." I replied. "That's it!" Madeleine said abruptly getting up. "Uh-" "This is unacceptable! How dare he treat you, a very lovely maiden with such disrespect!" He angrily said. I thought he was joking until I saw his face. "My dear Y/CN how long has this been going on?" He asked agitated. "Two years and five months..." I replied.

"Two years and five months...? Two years and five months?!" He asked now even more agitated. I nodded in response. "Listen Y/CN I'm not trying to take you away from him at all but you need to leave him, he doesn't love you! All he cares is his work, go find someone who actually loves you!" He said angry and probably disappointed in Espresso. "Never in my life have I been more disappointed in that cookie than now." He said quietly. He's right though, I need to find someone who actually loves me. Someone like him. At least he treated me more like a lover than Espresso ever did. "I'll do it." "What?" "I'm gonna end it right now, I'm sick and tired of his actions Madeleine! You've been a better lover to me than he ever was!" I told him truthfully. "I... My god..." He said rather shocked than happy.

"Fine, do what you have to do." He said sadly. I nodded and went to the academy where he studies.

The academy:

I was currently walking to Espresso's laboratory thinking about what I was gonna say. Luck wasn't on my side as I had quickly arrived at his lab. [Ya gotta do what ya gotta do Y/CN.] I thought and entered his lab. "Did I not tell you to knock before- oh hello Y/CN why are you here?" He asked rather surprised since I never come here. "I'm gonna be blunt with you and not waste your time uh, I want to break up." I said shrugging. He looked at me dumbfounded. "Y/CN if this is one of your pranks it's not working." He said with a bored tone. "I'm very serious Espresso." I replied without breaking eye contact. "Wha- you're not joking?" He asked this time shocked. "No... No I'm not. I'll be moving my stuff back to my house starting today, you can help me if you want but I'm leaving. Goodbye." I said.

Before I could leave the office he stopped me. "Y/CN you can't leave! What did I do? I didn't cheat on you, I've been with you since we met!" "That you have, spending time with me you have not. All you care about is work never enough time in your schedule to even hang out with me! I tried helping you with your work, I mess things up according to you. I tried to confiscate it but obviously you didn't want that so I left it and I even tried to come visit you here to maybe talk to you for a while and guess what? Not one second did you stop to say even 'Hey Y/CN how was your day?' And blah blah blah, so yes Espresso you have done everything wrong and I am sick and tired of your crap which I have tolerated for TWO YEARS AND FIVE MONTHS!" I said angrily. He was speechless.

"Now if you'll excuse me I have to go to your house and move my stuff." I said, turned around and left him.

Espresso Cookie POV:

I just stood there... Not knowing how to react. Was I really that bad of a partner? Did I really put her through that for two years...? I'm sorry Y/CN please come back. I left my lab and followed her before she could leave the area. I ran through the halls trying to find her but I couldn't. Once I arrived outside I found her talking to Madeleine. "Did I do the right thing?" She asked him. "That's for you to decide, would you like to go for some tea later to de-stress?" He asked her. "Yeah that'd be lovely." She replied. "Y/CN!" I called out to her. They both saw me and Y/CN turned away while Madeleine glared at me.

Once I caught up to them Y/CN started to walk away but I grabbed her arm. "Don't please, I'm sorry, I'm sorry I didn't spend more time with you. I was focused on doing things for the academy on how to make Coffee magic more powerful and-" "Save it." "Dont bother Espresso, she's made up her mind." Madeleine said before he left. I looked at her for an explanation. She just looked at me one last time before leaving. I was left there on academy grounds all alone... She didn't know she was the most special cookie to me and now she's gone because of my own foolish actions...

Three years later~

Why did the consul think it was a good idea to hold a anniversary party at the academy at this specific date?! I have work to do! I was trying to navigate my way through the crowd when I heard two very familiar voices on the left side of the ball room. There they were. Standing on the right was Madeleine Cookie and on the left... A pregnant Y/CN (oof low blow). "And then she says, 'Maybe the republic wouldn't have dishonored you if you weren't so arrogant' and everyone knows about his status in the republic." He said jokingly. With them were Financier Cookie, the bodyguard of Clotted Cream Cookie and Oyster Cookie's envoy. All of them were laughing and having fun. Y/CN seemed so happy... Much happier than she was with me even. I left the area not wanting to look at the scene any further and of course not wanting to talk to either of them at all and headed to my lab.

Madeleine Cookie POV:

I saw Espresso leave the area with my peripheral vision and stopped the act. "He's gone, thanks for covering us." I thanked them both. "You're quite welcome Madeleine and don't forget to be at the meeting tomorrow at eight A.M sharp." Financier said and walked away with the envoy. "Well that was close." Y/CN said from beside me. "Very, would you like to go home darling? Maybe this place is a little too crowded for you?" I asked Y/CN. I didn't want her to feel uncomfortable especially in this period of time (girl's preggo boi). "No no I'm fine, I actually have friends who I haven't talked to in years!" "Ooh old friends? May I meet them? I would love to get to know them better!" I said enthusiastically.

"Of course love but please help me up, you know I have trouble standing up myself." She said. I hummed and picked her up by her waste. "But I didn't say that either Madeleine." She laughed. "Why not? I must shower my dear with love and affection at all times!" I replied giving her a few kisses. "Stop you're embarrassing me!" She laughed a bit more. "Alright alright but this isn't over once we get home!" I told her putting her back down.
