a lot of people say that childhood friendships never last, but you and your childhood friend say other wise

you guys have always been there for each other no matter what. wether it was heartbreak, family problems or just anything in general

you were grateful to have jeongin by your side and jeongin was grateful to have you by your side as well

everyone knew that the two of you have been friends since the sandbox days or since you guys were four years old. you both were known as the golden duo. well you don't even know where the name came from since jeongin and you don't have blonde hair

many people would expect you two to be together due to the amount of years you've known each other, but unfortunately, you guys are not

you have gained tiny feelings for jeongin for quite a while now, but you haven't said anything to him due to obvious reasons.

right now, you've been spending some time on your phone while laying down on your bed and scrolling through your social medias. when all of a sudden you get a phone call.

it was jeongin

you picked up, wondering what he could possibly be wanting to talk about now

"hello?"

"y-y/n?"

you realized he was crying on the other end

"yeah? what's wrong?" you worriedly asked as you sat up from your bed

"lena broke up with me"

ah yes, the moment you were dreading to talk about, jeongin having a girlfriend

you never really liked her. was it because you were jealous? no, You were happy as long as jeongin was happy. the only thing you didn't like was what she's put him through and you've been through all of it with him

this had to be the 4th time jeongin had called you crying about her and you were tired of seeing him like this

you signed before speaking to him again

"oh no, what happened?"

"she accused me of cheating again..."

another one of the reasons why you didn't like her. she always accuses him of things he would never even think of doing

"again?"

both of the ends went quiet. you didn't want him to think that the break up was his fault, so you decided to do what any good friend would do

"cmon, get ready. let's go to the ice cream shop and then the park, so we can talk about it. i'll pay"

you knew jeongin wouldn't say no to ice cream or the park, since they were both places you both would go to when you guys were little, he loved going to those places with you, wether it was just the shop or the park, you both had a lot of memories in those places

he sniffled before speaking

"are you sure?"

"yes I'm sure, now hurry. i'll meet you at your front door"

you hung up the call and got ready to go meet up with him. you hated when jeongin had to go through breakups, it would usually take him quite some time for him to get over it

finally, you have gotten ready and left your house to go meet up with jeongin at his front door. he didn't live far from you, you guys only lived five minutes away from each other

as you were walking to his house, you wondered what could've possible made her accuse him

you were too lost in your thoughts and without knowing, five minutes passed by and you were in front of jeongin's house.

you were shocked to see him already sitting on his front steps, he would usually take quite some time to get ready. but this time, he didn't take his time

"wow, you got ready fast" you added a slight laughter as you walked up to him

jeongin didn't say anything in response, instead he looked up at you and you can tell that his eyes were already tearing up

it broke your heart seeing him like this, but there was nothing much you can do besides just be there for him

you signed and sat next to him, he didn't hesitate to put his head on your shoulder

"it's not your fault for the break up. If anything, she's the immature one" you said as you grabbed his hand

you felt Jeongin's tears soak through your shirt

was the break up that bad, that she left him like the is?
