Tokyo, Japan, 1880.
It was a rainy Friday night. For the past few months, people have been hearing about a "Haunted Village" in the north, called Inunaki. Apparently, people who go there are transformed, become the worst version of themselves, and then commit suicide.
For Shin Kitsugo, the director of the Tokyo police, it was a kind of rumor, an unimportant case...But after all these months of trying to solve this mystery, Shin sent several teams to inspect the village. He sent these teams of inspectors and policemen to the village, but they never returned. None of those who went there came back.
Shin was desperate, and that night he called the top American detectives: Cole McGree, known as "Cassidy," and Andrew Shawn, his assistant.He also called a team of paranormal investigators: Spencer Dice, Cassandra Joyce and Jane Martin.
