POLEN POV

My brother is searching for something.
Objects are being noisily moved, dragged around and even dropped unceremoniously in my hallway.
After a few minutes, when I finally realise what it is he's so desperate to find, I rush forward to watch and ultimately, stop him.
He's stooped over, his head barely visible.
"Yigit?"
He doesn't turn around but makes a 'Hmm', noise, carrying on digging in the small cupboard.
"Yigit! Stop!"

He does as I asks and steps back, standing to his full height.
"Have you moved it?"
"No...to be honest, I'd completely forgotten it was in there. Why are you looking for it?"
"You know why. Or aren't we going now?"

A small part of me is regretting my decision to agree to spend the day, sorting out things in the Istabul office, he left two years ago. He's talked about re-establishing himself and finding new authors to represent.
"Maybe, it's not such a good idea. Things are different there now."
I didn't tell him all the gorey details of my embarrassing encounter in Fikri Harika. Gliding in, unawares that Can and Sanem had married and were parents to a set of triplets was traumatic, to say the least. I'm still not sure that I'm over the shock of it.
Triplets! Three in one go.
But then Can is so much more than any other man, I've ever met. A triple threat. Tall, Handsome and Intelligent. Of course, his virility would be of the same calibre.

Yigit has gone back to his hunting and I sigh when he triumphantly backs out of the cupboard, holding his prize, aloft.
"Ah, found it!"
The hastily bought, cheap wooden walking stick is a painful reminder of his deception.
He bangs the end down on my tiled floor and leans his weight on it before taking some very dubious fake, laboured steps.
"Now, which leg was it?"
He even has a slight grin on his face.
"Yigit, you can't."
When I don't share his sense of humour, he shakes his head at me.
"Polen, it'll be fine."
I shake my head back.
"No, it won't. You didn't see them."
He limps over to me.
"Well, maybe you got closure, but I didn't. Maybe I need to see for myself."
"Be careful what you wish for. You left before Sanem found out. Now you're dredging it all up again. He's even more protective, now he's a...."
Swallowing hard doesn't help me get the words out.
Yigits eyes bore into me.
"He's a...what?"
I don't want to imagine it, let alone say it, out loud.
A Husband. A father. A Baba. They made children together. A son and two daughters.
Tears are not far away. The tell tale tingle is gathering in my nose and behind my eyes.
"Forget it."
I will not let my brother see me cry.

"At least, I had the courage to ask her to marry me. I got that close and she stayed with me, at the hospital and afterwards."
