I walk inside my Textiles class a little late and head straight to where I normally sit, next to Ellie of course. "A little birdie told me she saw you arrive with that new hot hunk this morning" Ellie greets me with a smirk.
"I had a terrible day today, thanks for asking Ellie." I reply sarcastically.
"Oh Jade, you find everyday terrible"
"You know that's not true"
"Anyway, that little birdie also told me she saw you with that new hot hunk again at lunch. Care to explain?" She emphasizes on little birdie.
"Last time I checked you're not friends with a bird" We both know I am joking. Ellie's source of gossip is Luna who is timid but happens to know every occurance at school. She's like a bird who is there whenever something happen at school, no matter where and when. "If by hot hunk you meant Nick, leave me alone to throw up a bucket full." I then make puking noises so that she knows I'm dead serious.
"I suggest you stop with your drama and tell me the deets. Ms. Monroe has been giving us warning looks every once in a while, just in case you haven't notice." Ellie says softly almost like a whisper.
"Just the more reason why I shouldn't be talking to you now" I say while copying notes from the whiteboard.
"Fine. Avoid the topic all you want. You and I both know you can't hide stuff from me for too long"
"There's a first time for everything, Ellie" I say, earning a hush from Bianca who sits right in front of us.
"Ellie and Jade, I suggest you shut up if you don't want to spend your seventh period at school here as a detention." Ms Monroe suddenly speaks up. Her tone is frightening.
Embarassed, I focus on copying what's on the board and stay silent throughout the class.
Second time the teacher warns me to shut up during class. Both have something to do with Nick. Coincidence? I think not.

"So?" Ellie is still pushing for answers ever since that scene in Textiles.
"So nothing Ellie. Absolutely nothing. We were just having a conversation about stuff." I reply with annoyance in my tone.
"You don't just have a conversation about stuff with people, Jade. That doesn't even sound like you. What happened?"
"Nothing! I felt sorry for him not having any friends since he's new here so I was just being friendly and he offered me a ride home yesterday and to school today, like your little birdie saw. That's it okay?" Him being new here is true, as well as riding with him. Only I did not feel sorry nor was I being friendly. And he didn't offer me a ride, he basically forced me but Ellie does not have to know about that.
"That's good. I thought you forgot our deal to-"
"Not fall in love before we go to college, I know Ellie"
She lets out a sigh. "We're good?"
"Of course" I shoot the most sincere smile I can to her. She's a good friend and all but sometimes she does not know where the limit stands. And we're the complete opposite of each other. She's pretty, I'm not. She's not invisible, I am. She has numerous amount of talents, I have none. She knows how to dress herself up without being to bitchy, I don't. She could be the popular girl in just a snap of a finger but she chose to be my friend instead thus meaning no possible spotlight on her whatsoever. I have to admit I sometimes have doubts about why on earth would she befriend me but she manages to push my doubts aside everytime, proving that she is sincere. That's what I love about her.
