02 - An Assessment Bathed in Guilt

In which there's overprotective bro moment, and Boi cannot physically stop himself from helping and/or saving everyone he can, even if it hurts.

BoBoiBoy passing out was expected (though the gang would appreciate if he'd stop doing that so much), Fang was surprising though. Both are now resting in the station's infirmary, under medical observation now that their injuries are dealt with. They're both still asleep, but the medic says that it won't be long until they wake up. The power sphere, CuFeBot, has been secured and everyone was accounted for. So far, nothing major has happened yet. 

Unless you count Captain Kaizo screaming at everyone and demanding an answer why his (unadmittedly beloved) little brother is in the infirmary, then nah. Nothing major happened yet. 

His cold rage aura could be felt from miles away. The other workers send their condolences to the Kokotaim gang, wishing them good luck and hopefully they don't die today.  

Added with Admiral Tarung's booming voice, the assessment meeting could be heard all the way to the infirmary which causes a certain orange-cladded Boi to arouse from his sleep. His head hurts and there's a ringing in his ears. He blearily looks around, taking everything in. 

'So, I'm in TAPOPS' infirmary (again). I have injuries (again), and I fainted from the last mission (...again).' Boi made a mental note to himself, 'Okay, okay, cool.'

His eyes then land on the bed next to him. Laying on it was the purple spiky-haired shadow manipulator. Boi was shocked, to say the least. Why was Fang here? Did he get hurt too? If so, who did it? How did this happen-? 

Boi was snapped out of his rambling mind when he heard the door slide open. His friends, Kaizo, and Commander Kokoci all stepped inside. Ochobot was the first to greet him. 

"Boboiboy, you're awake! You promised not to scare me like that again!" The little sphere flew over and hugged Boi tight. Boi hugged back.

"Well, it's not like I meant to do that... Hehe, sorry Ochobot." He chuckled, earning an exasperated sigh from Ochobot. No self-preservation lesson is gonna stick with him for long anyways. 

"You had us all worried you know, both of you." Yaya brought back his attention to Fang who's still unconscious.  Oh yeah, speaking of which...

"What happened to him? How'd he end up here with me?"

"That's what I'd like to know as well, Boboiboy." A stern voice cut through his question. He meets Captain Kaizo's gaze, cold and sharp. Boi feels uneasy. He should be, considering what's to come, "I heard what you did on that mission from your friends. Were you even thinking when you decided to run off from your group?"

"W-well, I just-"

"I don't want to hear your excuses, Cadet." 

Hard stop. Boi felt his little mouth involuntarily shut. "You deviated from your team to go on your own, ignoring direct orders from your superior, endangered your team and civilians, and you put the mission at risk. Anything else I might be skipping over?" 

Gopal raised his hand eagerly, "Oh, oh! What about the fact that Boi was still injured, managed to break at least two more ribs and overexerted himself to the point of collapse?"

Ah-

Ohh, so that's why his chest hurts beyond belief. 

"Though I admire your efficiency at retrieving the power sphere CuFeBot, your mistake could've costed you and your team dearly." Kaizo finished his lecture. 

Kokoci spoke up, "For your reckless behaviour and careless actions, you will be temporarily suspended from your missions and be put on an undetermined bedrest. Fang as well. As for the rest of you, you shall continue your mission as normal."

"WHAT?!" was Gopal's protest, "How come they get a rest while we don't? I want a break too, uhuhuhuuu... I'm so tired of doing all these missions, I do a lot for the team y'know! Why can't I just stay with them and the girls will finish it?"

As soon as he finished talking, he could feel the atmosphere change. It became thick and heavy. Gopal didn't dare to look behind him. He had half the mind to (shakily) exit the infirmary and run for his life, dragging Qually along with him.

"WHY YOU-! COME BACK HERE!!" the two girls rush out the infirmary to give poor impulsive Gopal a lesson he'll never forget.

"WAAAAA AMMA, APPA!! QUALLY YOU GOTTA HELP ME!"

"What?! What am I supposed to do? AND SINCE WHEN WAS I A PART OF THIS?!"

"AAAAA- JUST DO SOMETHING!!!"

They sped off to who knows where in the station, leaving the infirmary in awkward silence. Boi was holding his giggle the entire time. He couldn't afford to laugh lest he invoke Captain Kaizo's wrath a second time. Kokoci broke the silence.

"Ehem, right. As for your question before, we don't exactly know the cause of why Fang fainted. From Yaya's report, as she was with him at the time, they had encountered a "cat"-like creature in an alleyway when pursuing the power sphere abuser. Fang supposedly went to... Interact with the "cat" when he suddenly fell unconscious." Kokoci added another sunglasses on top of the ones he already wore to hide his uneasiness, "We suspect it might've been fatigue. He has been working a packed schedule for some time, it must've caught up to him."

Boi looked at Fang solemnly. He has been working quite a lot. Before this mission, he rarely saw Fang out of his room. When he was, Boi would only see him at the cafeteria or preparing to go on a solo mission with eye bags and a slightly slouched posture. Sometimes when he passed by Fang's room at night, he could hear subtle clicking and humming, and on occasion even groans of tiredness. Seems like he was still working even in the wee hours of the night. He definitely deserves a good rest. 

Hehehh, unlike him. 

Boi feels like he should still work harder. He doesn't think he's done enough to earn the rest he's given. His recklessness might've added to that feeling. Well, he'll try to help around the station as best as he can. 

He feels guilty for leaving his friends, especially Fang, on that mission. If he hadn't ran off by himself then there wouldn't be so much damage done, and Fang would be okay, and the mission could've gone smoothly...

Bahh, enough of that negative talk! He's fine and Fang's resting well. He should too so he can start helping around again once he feels better. He lays back down on the bed, ringing still in his ears, and drifted off to sleep.

A/N: I didn't expect to focus this part on Fang so much, hahahh. I think that's a good sign, 'cus I'm sorta biased. Thankfully my bias didn't make its way too much into my writing. Thanks for reading this (sorry it took longer than I expected). 

P.S: Next part might also focus on Fang (more than this part even), I think. So, rejoice Fang fans and stans!
