I always knew when it was Spring...

The sweet smell of blossoming flowers would linger in the air, awakening all 5 of my senses.

Plush trees reaching out to greet me and the birds singing nature's lullaby.

Then Summer would come along, sweeping me off my feet with its sunny days and long nights.

The sun shined a little brighter and beach days were the best days.

I enjoyed listening to the refreshing sound of white waves kissing the ocean shore as they came plummeting towards it like a bullet train.

I can almost feel the gritty sand in between my teeth and the sting from the salt water on my tongue.

The California breeze caressing my face and the wind whispering in my ear, teasing my hair in wild ways.

I looked forward to wasting away my Summer days by the water because I spent them with him.

What was supposed to be a Summer fling turned into a whirlwind romance between Tyson and I.

We spent our off days side by side, picking each other's brains over coffee and french macaroons.

Strolling the shore line watching the sun rise and set depending on our schedules.

I honestly couldn't imagine my life without him in it.

He recently purchased a newly renovated Beach house in Southern California, which may have a lot to do with how free and at peace we felt here. We never wanted to leave!

We had plans to take our first dip in the backyard pool once Tyson finished up with a few business calls.

While I waited, I worked my way to the outside bar to refill my drink of liquid courage.

Tyson eventually joined me outside in his swimming trunks, blue tooth speaker in hand playing one of my favorite songs: "Levitating" by Dua Lipa.

I need you all night, come on, dance with me. I'm levitating

My Summers were never ending when I was with him. He was a breath of fresh California air. A tall glass of the darkest wine known to man. I can't believe he was mine.

I remember the day we first met...

Running into each other was love at first sight. Tyson worked for a multi-million dollar tech company as their top systems analyst designing & green lighting apps to help make the world a better place and bring people together post pandemic. He's tall, clean cut and loved to wear his blazers with his sneakers.

He would stand there with his dazzling brown eyes searching for a sign or a solution in the sky, as if work never leaves his mind,

Change in hand, patiently waiting for his ride. His free hand would be safely tucked away comfortably in his jean pocket...

Then there was me, a twenty something Art school major at the time with my frazzled pink streaked hair and wrinkled Boho top unbuttoned just enough for my cross tattoo to peek through, tucked into my matching bottoms. Arms full of colorful crystal beaded bracelets getting my morning fix at the local coffee shop before I started my shift at Leo's Art Supplies & Buys.

That day, my BBFL (best bitch for life) Becca and her support dog Ruffles was joining me for breakfast.

After putting in my order, I took a seat at my usual spot outside that gave me the most perfect view. Becca arrived promptly minutes later with Ruffles in toe and plopped herself down at the table.
