After watching Sing 2, I felt a bit bothered by the lack of a redemption story for Jimmy Crystal, and how that character was handled in general. I had similar feelings about Buster Moon as well. I was stricken with an idea that wouldn't let me go, and that's how this fanfic was born. Operation: Moonfall is the first of the Moonfall trilogy saga, a post-Sing 2 story that will explore accountability, redemption, healing, understanding, and growth.
Though this story is conceived to be canon-complaint, it's going to be a little more grounded in terms of plotting and characterization, so it will be slightly more mature and a tad bit edgier than the movies. For Jimmy, this begins as a tale of revenge, but is ultimately a redemption arc. For Buster, this is a story of accountability. Also, slowburn Jimmy/Jerry is going to happen (among other pairings) not only because I thought "why not?" but because while plotting this saga out, it started to make a lot of sense and enhances the back half of the narrative.
Let's get some of the warnings out of the way. This story will contain elements of trauma, PTSD, panic attacks, verbal abuse, intimidation, references to attempted murder, and blackmail. It will also have humor, found families, fluff, and budding romances. You have to hurt to heal!

Anyone that wants to see Jimmy Crystal get a redemption story (or at least part of a revenge arc).
Anyone that wants to see Buster Moon be held accountable for his actions and grow as a character.
Anyone that just wants to spend more time with these characters and this world from the Sing movies.
