"Hurry, tie her up now!"
"Ivy, why don't we just end this right here?"
"No! I wouldn't let her die so easily."
"V, Lara, let's make sure it tastes like hell before we end her into a miserable death."
"Hahahaha!"
"Sorry..."
"Goodbye, Evelyn!"
"Hahahaha!"
"No!" Christal's pupils trembled as she suddenly snapped her eyes open when she shouted. She squinted at the intensity of light rays rushing into her eyes, too much for her iris. She slowly opened them, little by little, until they adjusted to the lights. The windows' tapped as rain poured.
For a long time, Christal's memory was blank. She tried searching her brain. Then she remembered the blurry dream that jolted her awake with a shout. Did she just dream that her sister was tortured to death a while ago? She slowly sat on the bed, hanging her legs. She mumbled, rubbing her face with her palm, "Where am I?" Looking at the white environment, she knew she was in a hospital. 'But why? How? What happened?' She tried searching her memory, but a sharp pain stabbed her head. She winced, immediately holding her head as her head ached.
Just as Christal resolved to get off the bed, her ward door opened. She was startled but calmed down when she saw those familiar chocolate hue eyes of her elder brother, Christ Alex Snow. Christ walked in with a tiresome face, wearing black jeans, a blue t-shirt under his white medical coat, and a pair of white sneakers. His dark brown hair was damp. Seeing that Christal was awake, his face lit up. "Alexis!" He strode to her bed and worriedly said, "Finally, you're awake. I thought you were not going to come back to life again!"
Christal shivered at his words, "W-what happened to me? Why am I here?"
Christal adjusted her pillow, "You ask too many questions. First, lay down, then I will clear your doubts." Christ sat on the chair next to the hospital bed as his sister nodded, leaning on the pillow. "You've been in a coma for two days." he began. "That night, you fell down the stairs and hurt your head and elbow. Fortunately, I came and was shocked to find you lying there."
Christal glanced uncomfortably at her brother.
Christ continued. "I was so scared to death that I didn't even know what to do. Aunt Arina and I then took you here. You have been lying dead here with a high fever for the past two days. None knows other than Uncle Lucas, Luke, Luna, and brother Ed. Nevertheless, I'm glad you're ok."
Christal remembered. That night Christal eavesdropped that her sister, Evelyn, was still missing. She felt so distressed and lost in her thoughts that she missed her step and fell. She blacked out after receiving a head injury. Unexpectedly, Christal saw a blurry view of three people. Even though she couldn't see their face clearly, she could still recognize their voice. Without a doubt, she knew who they were. She even heard them call her 'Evelyn.' 'Did I just see my sister tortured like that? Was everything in my dream true in reality?' she thought, clutching at the bedsheets in fear of losing her sister.
Seeing that Christal was quiet, Christ thought of letting her rest for a bit. Just as he was about to get up, he heard the words he wished she had never said.
"Did they find Evelyn?"
Christ's body stiffened as he stared at his cute little sister. He tried not to respond in a shaky voice, "W—we will talk about this at home. Take some rest. I'll be right back." Saying this, he left to inform her doctor and others about Christal's recovery.
Christal sighed, watching her brother leave without answering her question. She moved her sight from the door to the ceiling above, thinking. The heaviness of the evening air settled over her. When she blinked, a tear slipped down her cheek. 'Evelyn, where are you? It hurts. I miss you.'
