"oh there's no way! you're insane!" your best friend ella giggles.
"indeed! it was the experience" the guy you've had a crush on for over a year says.
When you planned this double date you had the great idea to make your best friends meet your new date. But it ended up being the other way around; you were the one third wheeling your best friend and your crush.
It was obvious you liked him, you even told Ella how important this was. This had to be on purpose to humiliate you.
you just stared at them talk, get lost in each other's eyes. it was killing you how touchy they were. you just wanted to leave. You were even sitting next to Jonah your crush. You wondered how hard you had to stare at them until they noticed you.
From the seat next to Ella, Foolish was looking at you her beat down by the situation. "are you alright?" foolish asks snapping you out of your thought.
"what?" you look up at him.
He sighed looking at them then at you.
foolish knew how much this was messing with you. he could see the pain through your eyes, to have to sit and watch who you thought was your best friend practically steal the boy you liked so much away from you. at least you had foolish to count on.
you rest your head on your palm looking at them giggle at whatever ella had to say.
Even though you were both sitting in that table together, ella and Jonah were so gone deep into their conversation to notice how Foolish leaned over to speak to you.
"wanna get to them back?" foolish leans in and whispers in your ear. his voice was soft and caring it only warmed your heart. He sounded as sweet as candy then.
at this point you didn't care about ella or stupid Jonah you just wanted to leave, but foolish made you want to stay just to get something out of this situation.
you nod with a smirk and he smiles giving you a thumbs up from under the table.
"so Jonah it sounds like you're an extreme guy, you love adrenaline and all right?" foolish says catching Jonah attention.
"yeah i guess you can say that" Jonah nodded.
"well" foolish trailed off, reaching over to hold your hand shaking it lightly. His hands were practically consuming yours, as he raised it to get the attention on you. "y/n over here loves skydiving it's like the sky is her oister!" foolish laughs. his laugh always brought a smile to your face, it was so contagious.
you scoff slipping your hand from him mouthing 'what are you doing?' looking up at him. "just follow my lead" he whispers back.
"what?" Jonah said confused.
"yeah what? y/n aren't you scared of heights? your used to scream your heart out when we went on roller coasters as kids" ella snickers.
you hated the way she would bring you down when there were boys around. well, except in front of foolish you both decided he was out of your reach so neither bother trying.
"at least i scream and not shit myself when there's turbulence on a plane" you smirk at ella. her face dropped you really exposed her.
Jonah holds back his laugh as you cup foolishs face and rubs your noses together. he chuckles and a shade of pink forms on his cheeks. it was adorable to see how he giggled at your touch.
"that was in 7th grade!" ella tried to defend herself but you just shrugged.
From the table, Foolish was cupping your jaw looking into your eyes. For some reason he doing all these couple like things just to get back to Jonah.
But it also felt so good to look at how much you embarrassed ella and weirded Jonah out.
"that wasn't a one time thing" you snap back.
"wait do you even skydive?" Jonah tried changing the subject but you just shrugged.
"no, but i thought we were making shit up like your unrealistic stories. i know very you well you didn't fight a stupid bear" you say, pushing your chair back and getting up from the table.
everyone went silent. Even Foolish was shocked, he looked up at you with an amazed smile. He felt a little proud now.
you had the satisfaction to see ellas face drop again and gabe not having any words. foolish was proud of you a huge smile on his face admiring your bravery.
"fuck both of you. ella i know fighting over a boy is pointless but you're genuinely a shitty person so i'm leaving the apartment i hope to see you never" you say getting up from the table.
A small relief broke free inside of you, letting that out of your chest. you felt powerful knowing you were finally done letting ella stomp all over you. you felt like you could do anything at that instant.
"oh and Jonah don't be a dick and go for the girls best friend i hope to never see you again too" you say carelessly. all your feelings were forming into words, rolling right off your tongue.
"let's leave these losers now. they're perfect for each other" you tell foolish as he stands up nodding.
at that moment you felt so alive you didn't notice when you held his face and crashed your lips against his.
it was quick kiss that made the two people looking at you jaws drop.
when you pulled away foolish open his eyes slowly looking at yours. Foolish had to blink in order to make sure this was real. Both of you smiled at each other for what felt like hours. his face turned bright red as you grabbed his hand rushing out of the diner you were in.
you just ran with him through the streets without knowing where to go exactly, you just liked his tight grip and the joy you were feeling with him.
after a few seconds you finally stop to catch your breath.
when you were done calming yourselves down, you just laugh at what just happened.
"i'm sorry you i kissed you" you apologize.
"it's okay. i liked it" he smiles
