Episode
Twenty two:

In the cold hush of night where I stood alone standing on the balcony smoking a stale cigarette staring longingly at the coal oil lit community that I've built. A gust of cold wind blew past me and the smoke frittered away. My mind raced with frustration and anticipation for a good word from one of my repairmen to inform me that the radio had been fixed. I hope Alyssa didn't think we'd abandoned them ever since a snow storm blew through and came to pass a couple of days ago.

The heavy pressure winds knocked a tree down which destroyed half our roof along with our radio and its equipment. I hope all is well with Alyssa and my sister Elizabeth and especially my brother Adam. I know we haven't talked or seen each other for god knows for so many years. Ever since I left and ventured on my own lane I've traveled and rode alongside with a pack of bad fucking Motörheads.

Do I regret the decision of pulling the trigger on that innocent family? Do I regret all the rotten actions that I had to do to survive? I can't change what's done. This road may have rotten my soul leaving nothing, but a foul stench along my wake. This lane I traveled alone on helped me see things through a better lens. I had to discover that lanes do have exits.

After a few minutes of silent pondering the balcony door slid open behind me and out stepped Owen my repairman into the chilly air. He walked a few steps and then leaned and stood next to me against the balcony. In utter silence I offered him a cigarette which he took then I lit up for him. And as soon as he exhaled the smoke into the quiet atmosphere he told me.

Owen: Which news do you wanna hear first?

Alan: Let me kick myself in the ass and phrase it myself "It's beyond fucking repair." (Heavy sigh) I'd expected too much.

Owen: I'm sorry I tried all that I could do to my knowledge. I can take another look if you like?

Alan: No, no, you've done all that you could do to restore it. Go home. Go to your family.

Owen: Bear in mind you have yet to hear my good news.

Alan: Okay, cheer me up.

Owen: I just received word from one of our scouts that they claim and saw a group of NightRiders entering an abandoned warehouse full of cargo.

Alan: Why haven't I been informed of this news? Which warehouse? This scout got a good look at what was inside?

Owen: It's the large warehouse that's two hours away from here. And as it so happens he reported seeing before sneaking out unnoticed a shipment full of weapons and ammunition.

Alan: That a fact!

Owen: And to lift your spirits up even more you won't believe the person that's been spotted in the whole operation.

Alan: Lucian?

Owen: As if the devil were good enough to let that happen. It's Maverick.

Alan: Maverick, huh... Much as I want to see him dead I know a woman who wants his blood in her hands.

Owen: And who might that be?
