Dawn fades over the sky as the moon rises in place beneath the dark clouds. Crows fly afar fading into the sky. The trees and bushes dance and sway to the vast movement of wind passing through. Waters of the lake ripple as leaves fall slowly above. The buzzing of crickets echoes from deep in the woods. The full moon cast an ethereal white glow reflecting upon the lake. Dandelions bloomed from the bushes as caterpillars crawled through the leaves. Beside the lake sat a circle of candles, holding fire flames.
Inside the circle we sat hand in hand facing each other. Beneath the palms of our hands sat a Lapis Lazuli, and the other sat an amethyst stone. Our eyes fell as we let out a breath. In sync our voices chanted.
"We call upon the mother, The maiden, and the crown"
Our eyes open and lock upon each other. The wind howled past invading the moment. I felt my hair blow into my face intruding my view. Slowly I brushed it away. I stared curiously at Arthur as his eyes grew.
"This is a sign. Its time."
Eagerly he reaches for the jar of black salt, and I search my pockets for the broken shard. His hands shakily pour the salt onto the stone plate between us. He glances around us to notice the flames weakening. I hold my hand above the salt and the shard in the other. I cry out in pain as I push the shard down my palm. My arm flexes tightly to hold the pain. Blood drips onto the salt. Arthur lets out a sigh as he takes the shard from my hand. His face tenses holding out his hand onto the salt sliding the shard down his palm. Blood runs down onto the salt dissolving through. Hand in hand our arms crossover the salt as we begin to chant. "Ventus pluto tempestar!" "Ventus pluto tempestar!" "Ventus pluto tempestar!"
Our voices echo through the woods. I open my eyes to realise all the candles have died, but we continued to chant. "Ventus pluto tempestar!" "Ventus pluto tempestar!" "Ventus pluto tempestar!"
Suddenly the candles lit, and the flames flickered rapidly. I felt my body slowly rising as we continued to chant. Arthur opened his eyes astonished to see we were floating above the circle. Kicking my feet, I couldn't reach the ground. This feels unreal. I am overwhelmed by such energy. It feels as if we have drawn the energy of natural forces or an unknown supernatural being. A tear falls from Arthur's face while he lets his body float freely. I throw my head back and close my eyes. Rain begins to lightly fall over us as we soak in the beauty of this moment. The sound of rain beating against the lake waters rang in my ears. I spread my arms out feeling the rain dops on my skin. Paralyzed by a feeling that can't be put into words. A feeling worth more than rubies and dimes. A feeling beyond the price of freedom. My eyes glance at Arthur floating beside me peacefully. I would give anything to relive this moment, especially with him. We may dwell within the bond and energies of mother nature right now, but nothing will ever break our bond.
"Lupe!" he yells.
I snap out of my emotional moment as Arthur stares ahead in shock.
"What is it- "I question curiously. Slowly my eyes lead to where he is looking. My jaw drops open in shock at what is see. The moon is glowing dark red. Suddenly I am overcome with a strong feeling. My eyes shoot across at Arthur in fear.
"Something's not right" He screams. His voice trembles in fear. I push myself through the air trying to get to him. I feel my hands shaking as I reach for his arm. Parts of the moon continue to grow darker. My psychic abilities feel a strong force against us. A strong unknown force fighting back. I look at Arthur in terror.
"Y- you feel it too?" He stutters. I nod slowly, as my mind races in panic. The rain begins to fall heavily.
"There must have been a mistake with the ritual!" he yells. I look down at the circle where the candles have died out from the rain. "We should get back down" I suggest.
"Ventus pluto tempestar!" He yells.
"I summon protection from the goddesses up a far!!" He yells over the rain. I quickly grab his hands to channel my power to him, as I join to chant.
"With the power of the sun! with the power earth! With the power of the mo-"
The chant is interrupted as Arthurs eyes begin to flicker and his mouth wide open. My heart is about to jump out of my chest.
"ARTHUR!!!! ARTHUR!!!! NOOOOO" I cry. I panic and try to shake him. Desperately I slap his face and hit him to wake out of it. I take a breath and place my hands on his forehead. I begin to channel all my strength into him.
"Projectium deflecto Vel ones ab iniuriis defendat mea desieravit mystici lesu!!" I chant. I open my eyes horrified at what I see. The waters that once rained from the sky has become blood. The wind rushed past as I float here gloomed and in shock while holding Arthur's hand. A tear falls from my eye. Chills run down my spine as I feel the strong unknown presence growing closer. My eyes scatter all around in a panic, but I see nothing. This presence is consuming my strength. I feel weakened, about to faint. The bloody rain becomes heavier as if its piercing into my skin. My vision starts to go blurry. I let my head fall back and my eyes lower staring at the dark red moon. Just before I pass out, I catch a glimpse of a woman's silhouette shadowing over the moon.
Oh, who is she...
A misty memory...
