Dragon's Blood

Chapter VI.

Jungkook shot up in the bed, eyes wide and skin coated in several layers of sweat that caused his hair to cling to his face as he panted.

Taking a moment to calm his racing heart as he lowered his eyes and placed his hand against his head. His mind flashing to a distorted image of Jimin, those beautiful eyes glowing brightly like hellfire, and he swallowed.

"W-Was that real?" Jungkook mumbled.

"Which part?" Jimin asked, startling Jungkook as he glanced to the side to see the king sitting in the chair by the window, legs crossed and a book in one hand that he seemed to be reading.

"Y-Your Highness, I-"

"Relax Jungkook, I don't care about formalities right now." Jimin said as he closed the book with a snap as he lifted his gaze to the other, Jungkook felt a chill run down his spine as his mind recalled that image from a moment ago.

"I-I don't understand..." Jungkook said, looking down as his hands curled around the blanket, frowning as his brows furrowed. "That was real?"

"That?" Jimin asked, playing coy as he set the book on the table by the chair and uncrossed his legs as he eyed the other.

"That I'm a – "

"Werewolf?" Jimin interjected as Jungkook looked at him, giving a slow nod. "It was. I have no reason to lie about it."

"How can, you be sure?" Jungkook asked.

"Well for one, I saw you in your true form. How else do you think you survived Hobi's final test? Do you think a mortal man could take down a group of beasts like that alone?" Jimin asked, glancing at his nails.

Jungkook didn't answer, instead looking back down at his fists.

"A werewolf..." Jungkook mumbled, did the villagers back home know?

Did his parents? Was that why everyone always looked at him with fear in their eyes, kept their distance and shunned his parents. They were angry that they took on a beast, a monster. Jungkook closed his eyes tightly as his jaw set tight as he felt a rush of anger that he'd never felt before.

"Calm down." Jimin said, snapping Jungkook out of his own head, whipping his head in the other's direction as their gazes met, Jungkook's now glowing a dazzling amber.

"Calm down? How the fuck can I calm down!? I just found out I am a monster!" Jungkook shouted as the door flew open, several guards rushing in but Jimin stood and raised his hand.

"It's nothing, leave us." Jimin said.

"But Sire – "

"I said leave." Jimin said, forcing them to bow and quickly back out of the room as Jimin looked back to Jungkook as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Is that what you see yourself as now?"

"How can I not?" Jungkook asked, his eyes slowly returned to normal. "Why didn't you just kill me when I-"

"Why kill someone I can make use of?" Jimin asked as he walked towards the bed as Jungkook's eyes narrowed before he turned his head away from the other.

"I'm just a tool." Jungkook said.

"Everyone is a tool to me." Jimin said as he stopped beside the bed and Jungkook gritted his teeth.

"What if I don't want that?" Jungkook asked.

"Planning to go back on your sworn oath? Shame the name of your family?" Jimin asked as Jungkook's eyes widened as he looked up at Jimin as the other was giving him a scolding, half lidded expression.
