"Heeeeey Zbaltz, we're running short on the Zurk bacteria for testing." Clementine groaned as she stumbled over to where her friend was sat on the floor, sitting down herself. "Clementine we don't need anymore of that." Zbaltazar said with a small sigh. "We dooo! I need it for growing plants since we ran out of soil ages ago." "What if the bacteria evolves? Think about that?" "Yeaaaah but i figured if you pour water on them it kills the bacteria slightly so it doesn't evolve." Zbaltazar sighed and facepalmed.
"Clem, the bacteria is dangerous to collect, you know that to grow plants it has to be from further on in the sewers. Last time we sent someone they didn't return. Its a suicide mission." "Mmmmm, I'll go then!" "What?! No! Don't try and act all brave now when you are fully aware you aren't. You will freak out and only get yourself hurt." Zbaltazar yelled in panic. "Sheeshhh.. how rude." Clem grumbled, rocking back and forth impatiently. "If you want it that badly, I'll go." Zbaltz offered, rising to his feet. "Ohhhhh~ I see! If I go ill die and if you go you won't! Makes sense." "Clementine I'm not saying that. It's just that I'm not going to risk losing you." Zbaltazar said, grabbing Clementines hand. He slowly released it and began heading down the ladder, "Wait here. If you even think to follow me you WILL be in trouble." "pshhhhh- you aren't my da-" "Clem, shut up. I'll be right back."
There was a short silence.
"YOU BETTER COME BACK YOU STUPID IDIOT DUMB****" Clementine jokingly yelled as she looked down and smiled at Zbaltazar who was making a joking face back at her as he walked across the bridge.
She laughed quietly and went down to where Malo was. "Hey Mal." Clementine said. "Hey Clem! Waddya doin?" "Waiting for Zbaltazar to return, he's gone to get some more Zurk goopy stuff as a substitute for soil. I'm kinda worried." "Oh it's Zbaltz, he'll be fine. Hey anyways, isn't it crazy how we were able to use bacteria as soil? I'm surprised it didn't eat away or kill the plants." "Yeah! It's good we found a use for that stuff or it'd just be ugly and gross and sitting around in a lump." Clementine Chuckled. Malo smiled, "Yeah, I hope Zbaltazar doesn't run into those Eyeballs. Eugh imagine whatll happen when they Evolve.." "Now now let's not think about that! I bet we'll be out of here before the time we witness that!!.. Hopefully." Clementine said confidently.
Meanwhile, Zbaltazar was walking through the area. Luckily, there weren't any zurks to be spotted around here. He took out the supplies he'd grabbed on the way down -A bag and shovel- and begun to stab at the infection, assuring none of the bacteria got onto him incase it began to eat away at his metal without him knowing (even though he knew such undeveloped bacteria couldn't do such thing yet, seeing as it couldn't make its way through the plastic it was that weak.)
He was being cautious and gentle, as to not disturb the eyes. If he did, then, well, he instantly knew by the echoing call and rumbling ground, followed by the pestering sounds of zurks, it was over. He was dead. For sure. Especially if he was carrying heavy bags full of the vile, gooey infection.
"Anddd, that's it. Two fulls bags." He sighed, tucking the shovel under his arms and lifting the two bags as well as he could. They weren't all that heavy. Yeah, they slowed him down a bit because of foolish gravity pulling him down, but aside from that, all was fine. He just had to return safel-
...
"What?" Zbaltazar mumbled, stepping slowly forwards to make sure he wasn't hearing things, "That.. Was the call." he paused from shock and nervousness. But in an instant he snapped into reality as he heard zurks growing nearer, Now was no time to be frozen in terror. He hurried onwards, no time to lose. The walk through the tunnel was a good 5 minutes, but now he had to run, wielding a shovel and two heavy bags whilst being chased by life threatening creatures. No. Not even life threatening. Life TAKING.
He ran for 3 minutes, still in the depths of the tunnel, but as he ran and ran nearing the light from antvillage at the end of the tunnel. So did the zurks. They were at his feet..
Then he felt one cling on. It was then that he knew, he had to drop the things he was carrying. He dropped the two heavy bags and the shovel, crushing plents of zurks as he did so. Getting a few of his hands. But as he looked behind him. This wasn't a few zurks he was dealing with. This had to be at least 100.He began to panic. Something he would regret doing.
"Come on I'm nearly there..." He yelped, shutting his eyes right as he ran, "Clementine if I don't make this I'm sorry I'm so sorry-"
Clementine sat at the bridge, patiently waiting, she began to feel nervous and panicked. Her fear increasing as she heard a dreaded thing coming from the sewers. "GAAAAAAH! GET THE **** OFF ME!! YOU LITTLE BASTARDS!"
In a hurry Clementine Rose to her feet, speeding over to a box of old supplies, digging out one of Docs prototype Defluxors. It wasnt all that efficient but it did something indeed. She then sped across the bridge, activating the defluxor and turning the corner. Zbaltazar had tons of zurks clinging onto him, mainly into his legs which were visibly emitting sparks of electricity.
Clementine steadied up the Defluxor and shone it on Zbaltazar, killing every single Zurk on top of him in an instant. Clementine then hurried over and lifted him up, carrying him on her back all the way to the other side of the bridge, then resting him on the floor. He was clearly swearing and terrified. Clementine hadn't ever seen him this way before.
"Zbaltz? Can you stand up?" Clementine asked, "Are you okay? What on earth happened out there?!" "What do you THINK happened?!" Zbaltazar yelled, "ZURKS. SEE. THIS IS THE REASON I DIDN'T WANT YOU TO GO! YOU WOULD'VE DIED!" Clementine was stunned, she teared up and hugged her friend, "I'm sorry this is my fault." Zbaltazar angrily yet sorrowfully wrapped his arms around Clem, resting his head on her shoulder. "No. No. Im not able to walk." Zbaltz mumbled, "They chewed up the wiring in my legs, I won't be able to walk. And out of the entire underground Doc is the only one who knows how to repair bots and well, I doubt we will be seeing him anytime soon."
"Please, clementine. For the sake of your own safety don't go try and get anymore bacteria." Clementine paused and sighed, "Alright. I'll find another way. Now. Let's get you to your 'room' area."
It was a long struggle but eventually they made it.
"I ******* hate those zurks.." Zbaltazar mumbled. "I know."
