The two set off into the desert with few words exchanged. Cyno could tell that (Y/n) knew where to go now, as if she had been enlightened in her rest, as she was confident with each and every step she took. Even under the heat that relentlessly beat down on them, she did not pause a single time. Cyno, of course, being used to long treks through the desert, did not need to take breaks. The heat was somewhat stifling though, and having to constantly avoid getting sand in his eyes wasn't particularly enjoyable. The Murshid seemed to have no trouble with this though, as she had been walking in a climate like this her whole life.

It was still a bit hard to grasp that he had been thrown into a random fracture in the space-time continuum with a being that he would soon forget. He often thought that if he closed his eyes, he would wake up and find himself delirious back in Teyvat.

"Hey, can you tell another joke?" (Y/n) asked out of the blue.

"You... would like me to?" Cyno was surprised and his steps slowed for a brief moment. Everyone always said that his jokes were horrendous and he was a disgrace to the comedic world.

"I think they're funny in their own way!" She turned back to him with a joyous smile, and his breath caught in his throat at its otherworldly beauty. What are you thinking about? He internally chastised himself for being so idiotic.

"Alright then," he quickened his pace so that he was walking only a few feet behind her. "But honestly, all jokes about deserts fall under dry humor."

"Pfft," she laughed, "that one actually wasn't too bad!"

"Really?" Cyno's eyes lit up slightly at the compliment. No one had ever complimented his jokes before. Despite the rather dire situation, he found himself feeling elated that his punchline finally delivered. "There is no need to lie for the sake of my pride."

"I'm telling the truth," the Murshid retorted, "on a scale of one to ten, I'd give it. a five."

"..."

She paused, noticing his expression turn irritable.

"Are you upset?"

"No, I'm irritated."

"Those are essentially the same thing," (Y/n) sighed and rolled her eyes, resuming their trudge through the sands.

He was now lost in thought, irritated by the impact that this girl had on his mentality. It wasn't normal. This area must be causing my brain to malfunction.

After around fifteen minutes of silence, the Murshid decided to speak. "Are you happy?"

At the sudden question, the boy paused. "It doesn't matter if I am happy or sad. So long as I can hold up my ideals."

The girl stopped as well after noticing he didn't take another step. "What are your ideals, Cyno?"

Her gaze was probing, as if she was reading every motion he made. "Those who act against justice shouldn't be allowed to roam free."
