In evenings like these, where autumn leaves crackle under hoof feet and the sky a semi- pink. Bandits on horseback trot through the vast woods. They trot for approximate mile before the leader pulls in front of a lake. Once he dismounts, he tells his men to do the same. By nightfall, a fire brewed and sparked under cold hands. The forest surrounded them, and animals lurk in the distant woods.
A man lies away from the group around the fire. His form was supported by the tree, and he wore his hat over the face. With his arms folded, he sank deeper, allowing the tree to be his substitute pillow.

"My God Will, how do you find that comfortable." A voice says behind William's back.

"I just do" William says, pushing the beak of the hat backward, "I don't suppose Mr Godliocks will come and join me?"

Henry chuckles, rolling his eyes.
"I'd rather sleep closer to camp. But I also know you are loose cannon all by yourself."
It's William's turn to laugh. Henry then sits against a boulder closest to William's feet. Comfortably, he unfolds a blanket and spreads it over himself.
"Are we going to discuss our plans for Springfield ranch." William says, cupping his arms behind his head. The other cowboy rests his chin over his bandana and releases a sigh.

"Don't you think we've had enough of cattle stealing or robbing. I mean, it's fun and all, but I don't want to be considered an outlaw," He pauses.
"At least not anymore."

William grunts under his hat."Well, you should've thought about that sooner before joining the Slits but for the most part, at least you and I don't kill."

Henry nods.

"Boss told me that we will be leaving by dawn, so be ready before then."

Another nod.
William took notice of Henry's droopy eyes. He marvels at how Henry wills himself away from sleep.
'Henry. I know I'm stunning, but give your eyes a rest. You'll still see me tomorrow.' William liked the look of terror and reddeness boiling on Henry's face.
'Why you tease!' Henry swats his hat repeatedly over his friend. His friend only laughs even more.
Beady eyes question the two laughing idiots. One pair squints, while others turn back to their now roasted kill.

Eventuality, the leader called in shut eye and then did the rest. All settled into their shared tents.

Stink eye still follows the stupid pair while their voices become fainter, until silence. And only what was left was the company of crickets and owls in the distance.
All are asleep.

Still the eyes ponder in the dark. They wanted something. And they wanted it bad. Only luck would tell. It did.

The bandits surround a saloon. Supposedly storing extra cash somewhere behind the cheap makes. Broken down and a nice decor finish of splayed overturned chairs and tables, the leader enters Pete's Tavern. His men spread out and kick more of the havoc they made. William and Henry stand beside the leader. Guarded.
"What can I do for you gentleman. Or what I can still give you?" The barowner slys behind the counter. Unamused the leader signals with his eyes to the farthest bandit. Understanding, he follows the order, loads his gun's barrel and directs to the barowner.

"I have no time for drinks or small talk.  Tell us where your stash is or little Johnny over there will blow your head." In no time a shaking hand displays a key.
"Behind me is stairs leading up to my bedroom, under the dresser there should be a box containing the money." The leader sneers.

"Thanks for your co-operation. But if it's not in there you know whats coming to you." Click.

After the box was found the group decided to pay their stay with dances and alcohol. Maybe did more damage to the walls than any loose farm animal. And danced the night away, even the barowner squared the floor with awkward leg and arm flings. By morning they all were bone tired.
Henry and William wake clung to eachother. They had fun another way in the bedroom upstairs. William, stunned. Looks to see that he still has underwear on. Good. Henry seemly did the same.
"I think we must leave," William says already grabbing his shirt and pants.
"What the fuck did we do?"

Henry shrugs with a red face. Once dressed the two walked into a scatter of drunk men. The barowner was suspiciously close to his perpetrator and the leader is laying flat first on the floor. The only ones left standing was a clumsy couple dancing slowly in the corner and, William and Henry.
In all honesty it looked like a bar fight gone wrong.
It wasn't a long wait for the sobering process to kick in and barowner and bandits were on the road. Having his only earn of income recked he might as well sneak in his wild card.

The next victim was a old rancher who had to many errands in the town to cope with the incoming ordeal. 'Springfield ranch' the sign welcomed.
The leader sneered once more.
"Pack your shovels boys, we're going treasure hunting."
His men happily run ahead, waving rifles and spades. That was the last thing the leader said before he was abruptly stabbed in the neck. He was dead instantly from the blood spill.

...cliffhanger :)
