I walked to lunch alone, but I knew I would meet up with my friend Valerie soon. And there she was right at our table. Valerie was certainly the most 'boy-crazy' between her, ally and I. She wore more make-up than me and twice as much as Ally. Every single day she looked perfect, with her designer jeans, snug tops and perfect brown hair that hung in loose waves.
"Hey." I said.
"Noki! Guess what?"
"What?" I said, digging my sandwich out of my backpack.
"Brayden asked me out!" She gushed.
After finally pulling my partially squished sandwich out I looked over at the 'cool' table. Brayden sat at the head of it surrounded by several other football jocks and their girlfriends. And, despite not fitting into either of those categories, I noticed Cy, too. He was looking comfortable around them all, though, as if they were old friends. How is it fair that he's here for one day and already everyone's friend when hardly anyone knew my name?
"....And he's just sooooo nice!"
I now realized that I had been completely zoning out as she obsessed over Brayden. One of my favorite things about Valerie was her ability to keep a conversation going for hours, single-handedly. I was able to leave lunch without saying anything more than Mmm-hmm and nodding.

On my way to P.E. I heard the distinctive sound of someone being thrown against the lockers. Over and Over again. Being the goody-two shoes I was, I peeked around the corner to identify the people I was to report to the principal. I was almost surprised when I saw Cy throwing Randy Thompson against the wall of lockers, but not quite. He did strike me as the bully that would shove kids up into lockers after all. I quickly scurried past them towards the principals office.
Behind me I heard a sickening, thud. It sounded almost like someone dropped a body to the ground after they'd shoved them into some lockers repeatedly.
That's got to be a coincidence, right? I walked through the halls a little faster. Oh shit, shit, shit.
Before I knew it an arm had wrapped around me and flung me into the lockers, hard.
"Ow." I groaned, looking up at Cy. "Who the hell would slam a girl into a wall?"
He blushed, loosening his grip a little, "I didn't know you were a girl."
"Wow, what a compliment," I said sarcastically.
"Listen," He said, looking me in the eyes. "I know you were about to tell the principal about that little scuffle, but I don't want you to."
I raised an eyebrow. 'I don't want you to' what kind of persuasion is this? I tried peeling his arm off of me but he didn't budge.
"Let me go," I said, trying to sound tough, but I think it came out more of a whimper.
"Promise me you wont tell."
"No, I'll do whatever the hell I want," What had gotten into me? Just a few hours ago this same guy had bullied me out of my seat and now I was talking smack.
"Fine," He said finally releasing me, "But if you do, I'll make you pay."
"Did you just threaten me?"
He didn't answer because he had already stormed out of the school building.

I arrived to gym class, late of course. Just as I was trying to sneak in, our stupid 'coach' caught me. I say 'coach' because, as a gym teacher you would think that he was fit, but he was really just overweight, disturbingly creepy and mean.
"What do you think your doing, Ames?!" Shit.
I didn't respond because I knew that would only dig me in deeper.
"Get over here, NOW!" You don't need to yell, Mr. FussyPants.
Oh Shit, did I say that out loud?
"Principals Office, Ames! NOW!"
I gaped in horror, i'd never been sent there before, except to collect an award or something alike that. I saw someone smirk at me. Valerie? Why was she smirking at me? Is she glad I'm in trouble?
"AMES! NOW!"
I had stood there gawking, I guess. I turned on my heel and ran out, but not before I had seen Valerie's smile grow wider.
