Chapter 5
Two weeks since Jungkook had left you at the club. This whole thing was giving you whiplash, stay away, but he is the one that keeps showing up and not explaining what the hell was going on. It was a bit reminiscent of Twilight if you were being honest. The bell dinged, pulling you from your thoughts; you couldn't wait to get home. Your bed was calling your name.
You finally closed the store, checking the locks before heading to the alley to dump the garbage; the sound of a can rolling across the ground took you from your thoughts of your bed. You spotted what looked like a couple embracing; you heard a small yelp.
"Everything ok?" you yelled, swearing at yourself for letting what possibly could be a psycho know you saw them.
Even in the dim light of the street lamp, you would know him anywhere, his mouth half-open, a smirk turned to worry when he spotted you, blood listening in a bright crimson in the low light.
"I'm sorry," you yelled, turning on your heel and running to your bike.
Jumping on, you pedaled as fast as you could. You didn't dare look behind you. You didn't want to know if Jungkook was following. You quickly made your way into your apartment building. The elevator was already on the ground floor. The door opened, and you were pressing the button repeatedly, knowing full well that it wouldn't make the entries close any faster. You shook your head, trying to convince yourself that what you had witnessed wasn't really happening. That wasn't Jungkook. Blood came from his mouth, and the woman slumped in his arms. Monsters weren't real. They were just stories told to scare kids into eating their veggies.
When the doors opened again, you looked around, ensuring no one was in the hall. You didn't have a plan for what would happen if he was in the lobby, but you still made sure you were alone. You opened the door to your apartment, quickly making your way inside and placing your bike against the door like it would help if someone broke the door. You took a deep breath and took your bag off, heading to your room after a few minutes. You jumped when your phone went off, checking it was Jungkook telling you he was coming over and he would explain everything.
It wasn't too much longer when the knocking started. You ignored it and your phone. You didn't want him to explain anything; you didn't want to know if what you saw was real or not. You couldn't take it anymore. You hit up, moving your bike out of the way, and opened the door.
"What do you want?" You asked, looking at Jungkook.
"I'm sorry, I can explain. Can I come in,'?" He replied as he took a step forward.
You backed up, letting him in. You figured if he wanted to hurt you he could have done it already. He gave you a half smile as he walked into the apartment. You rolled your eyes, closing the door behind him. You walked over to the couch, grabbed the blanket, wrapping it around you. Jungkook sat down beside you.
"I should have told you," Jungkook said, reaching for your hand.
You pulled away, wrapping the blanket tighter. Hurt crossed his face.
" I would never hurt you," he said, rubbing his hands across his thighs, "I love you, and I should have listened to you," he sighed, "you were right. I was too stupid to realize what was going on...." Jungkook trailed off.
"Just spit out, so I can go to bed. I'm tired," You replied, getting annoyed with him.
Jungkook stood, pacing a bit before he turned and looked at you. "She... she turned me. I didn't know what was happening. I should have listened to you," he said, sitting down next to you, "I love you, and I didn't know that until now," he finished, reaching out but pulling his hand back.
You nodded, pursing your lips, "Turned you into what?" You questioned, ignoring the last thing Jungkook told you; you didn't want to deal with that right now.
He took a deep breath looking away, "A vampire," Jungkook looked down at his hands before he looked at you, waiting for an answer.
You nodded as you stood, "I'm going to bed," you said, not realizing wanting to accept what your best friend had just told you.
He did stop you, only asking if it was ok that he stayed. You shrugged, telling him to do what he wanted. You closed the door behind you, locking it, not that it mattered if Jungkook was what he said. He could break the door down and get to you. You pulled the covers back, yawning. You grabbed your sleep clothes. After you changed your clothes, you lay in bed, looking up at the ceiling, wondering how Vampires have spent all this time being unseen in the world. You shook your head, rolling over. There was no way any of it was true; he had to be pranking you.
You tossed and turned all night; the image of fangs and blood was too much. You sat up, rubbing your face. You left your room heading to the bathroom, splashing water on your face
You smelled coffee, furrowing your brow. You headed into the kitchen, frowning when you spotted Jungkook making breakfast, "what are you still doing here?" You asked, folding your arms across your chest. "I thought vampires slept during the day," you added, waiting for him to answer.
Jungkook gave you a soft smile, "I did want to leave while you were still mad at me, and I guess it's a myth because I'm never tired anymore," he replied, sliding a cup of coffee and a plate of food on the counter towards you.
You took the coffee and the plate of food and walked into the living room; Jungkook hesitated but eventually joined you on the couch. You sighed happily, sipping the coffee. You looked over at your best friend, not knowing what to say to him. Was he even the same person you grew up with? Is he even human anymore?
"So," you said, taking a bite of your eggs.
"I'm sorry," Jungkook said, rubbing his hands together.
"You keep saying that; it doesn't change the fact you lied to me," You said as you pushed the plate away.
"That's not fair. I never lied," Jungkook replied. He looked at you and hurt crossed his face.
"You know what's not fair! Your mom and I worried sick you were dead; your mom is in the hospital. They don't know if she's ever going to wake up," You replied, raising your voice," the whole time you were what off doing vampire stuff? You couldn't text anyone to know you were alive, oh no! That would have been too much!" you yelled, standing, carrying your plate and cup to the kitchen.
You took a steadying breath and closed your eyes; in an attempt to calm down. You jumped when you felt a hand on your shoulder, turning and seeing the sadness in Jungkook's eyes.
"I didn't mean for any of this to happen; I'm sorry I hurt you and my mom," he stepped closed.
You looked up at him, and your heart skipped a beat as you looked into his big doe eyes. He smiled, leaning closer, "I need you to leave," you said, quickly stepping away from him before he could close the gap.
"But I thought...." Jungkook started furrowing his brow in confusion.
"I'm gonna need some time to process everything. I saw you rip a woman's throat out," You said, backing away.
"She's fine. I only took a sip," Jungkook replied, hurt in his voice.
"If I hadn't interrupted? Would you have shown up covered in blood again?" You inquired of him.
"Nothing would have happened; that was.... " Jungkook sighed, "Are you still mad?"
You nodded, repeating that he needed to leave. Jungkook looked a bit defeated, saying he would check on you later. You didn't reply, locking to four behind him. You leaned against the door. This was crazy. Your best friend is a vampire.
