"Jakob," A woman says as Jakob walks off of the plane that had caught him before she rushes over to pull him into a hug which he gladly accepts. "Was it really them?""Yeah, Lotty. It's them," Jakob says with a sigh as the woman known as Karlotta frowns.
"I simply cannot believe that magnet trick actually worked," Otto, Jakob's business partner says as he walks over to the couple. "It looked so damn cool. Look at this here. I got this off the cockpit feed. Oh, I love being rich."
"It was sloppy," Jakob corrects as they walk through their base of operations. "She almost had me. She say anything?"
"Nope. Nada," Otto answers as he takes off his sunglasses. "You know, I look at her and I feel creeped out. And sort of turned on at the same time. Is that weird?"
Karlotta rolls her eyes as she, Jakob, and Otto walk up to a laser perimeter before the lasers are turned off to reveal a glass box in the middle.
"Nice operation," Cipher says as Jakob, Karlotta, and Otto walk up to the glass box that Cipher is in. "You snatched me off Mr. Nobody's plane midair without a scratch, and you took him down. Money well spent."
"Do you know who I am?" Jakob asks as Cipher looks over at him.
"I know who you both are," Cipher answers him with a slight nod as she glances over at Karlotta. "Do both of you? East LA is a tough enough place to grow up."
Cipher begins to pace around the box with hopes that her words will have an affect on Jakob and Karlotta.
"But it was your brother's and sister's shadows that turned you both into this. Isn't it? So, Jakob, your whole life, you pushed yourself to be faster than Dom and Moni. Smarter than Moni. Stronger than Dom. Tell me, do you hate them so much that it keeps you up at night?" Cipher slightly smirks as she sees her words having a slight affect on Jakob. "Still? All these years later?"
"That's enough," Karlotta says as she glares at Cipher, who directs her smirk at Karlotta.
"Ah. The best friend's sister that is in love with a Toretto," Cipher says which causes Karlotta to glance over at Jakob. "Tell me, Karlotta, what's it like to have to choose between your brother and your lover? Oh, wait. That's right. Your brother is dead." Karlotta glares at Cipher as she clenches her fist before Jakob stands between the two women. "I should've just hired you two instead of coercing Jakob's brother and sister a couple of years back."
"I don't work for the competition," Jakob says with a shake of his head.
"That's cute. You thinking you're the competition," Cipher says in a taunting manner.
"Says the woman in the box," Jakob retorts before pulling out the device that he had stolen from Domonique and Letty. "Look familiar? The other half's hidden in one of the agency's thousands of vaults. I need you to find out which one. We secured the master drive here from Mr. Nobody's plane." Jakob slides the master drive into the box with a keyboard. "The rest of the hardware is a bit dated. Pre-Internet. To make sure you don't go hacking into anything we don't want you to."
"Say you get what you're after. A weapon so dangerous it shouldn't exist for another half century. What would you do with it? Launch some global attack? Sell it to the highest bidder?" Cipher questions him as she walks over to the master drive while looking at Jakob. "Or maybe you see yourself as a necessary shock to the system. I bet all you ever wanted was a hug."
"You read my psych eval. Good for you," Jakob says with a smirk.
"I read your second-grade report card," Cipher says as a smile graces her face. "That's what I do." Cipher pulls out the keyboard and master drive before she begins typing. "Your chin... it's distinctive. I know the Toretto's have quite the mixed bloodlines, but I never detected a Nordic strain." Jakob and Karlotta look at her slightly shocked, causing Cipher to smirk as she continues to type. "Finding the two halves of Project Aries is the easy part. Add in Moni." Cipher shakes her head as she remembers how she had beat her. "You two don't have a chance."
"Plans are in motion," Jakob tells her with a slight snicker since he believes that he can handle his sister.
"Qasar Khan," Cipher says as Jakob goes to walk away from her.
"What?" Jakob asks as he turns to look at Cipher, confused.
"Genghis Khan's little brother," Cipher answers as she looks at Jakob with a slight smirk. "Nobody's heard of him either." Jakob glares at her before walking away while Cipher winks at Otto, knowing that he would be her ticket out of there.
CASPIAN SEA
"Talk about off the grid," Ramsey says as Domonique leads the way through a tunnel under the water while Ramsey, Tej, and Roman hold flashlights.
"I don't think they had grids when this place was built," Roman says as he follows the group while looking around. "If a Ninja Turtle pop out on me, tell you right now, I'm out."
"No way this place was sanctioned by the agency," Tej says as he starts to look around as well. "This was definitely Mr. Nobody's secret hideout." Tej looks around before finding a switch that he flips, causing the power to come on in the bunker. "What now, Moni?"
"Whoever Jakob has become and whatever he's up to," Domonique answers as she turns to face the team with a stern look on her face. "It's on me. And me alone."
"Nah," Roman says as he shakes his head. "Whatever's on you, it's on us."
"Let's get to work," Tej says with a nod, causing Domonique to look down as a small smile graces her face because she is thankful that her family always has her back.
