Have you ever thought about why certain things happen. Like why you go through or feel the things you do. Well I know I do basically every day. I gave up on believing in miracles and love when I was 8.
Around that time my whole world changed and at some point I didn't see any reason to keep living or move on with my life. Shit I still feel like that sometimes now. I have my good and bad days.
I live here in New York, in this shitty apartment. It's all I can afford due to my low paying job at the coffee shop. I've been working there for about a year now and my pay still isn't great. I work my ass off but since the owner knows I need the job he works me like a dog.
Today is actually one of my only days off. I've been saving up money to go and get something nice for myself since I never do things for me. As I rolled out of bed I went to the bathroom and turned the shower on. As I waited for the water to get hot I stared at myself in the mirror.
I looked tired and broken down, and that's because I am. I quickly got in the shower and immediately felt the hot water hit my back. Showers where my safe space. It's where I go to clear my head and just relax.
After my hour long shower I got out and got ready for the day.

Entering a store I saw some really nice clothes. Better then the ones I had anyway. I picked up some shirts and pants. I even got me some nice lingerie. Don't really know why I did that it's not like I have a man or go around spreading my legs.

One of the girls stuck their hand out to introduce themselves. "I'm Lexi." She said. Then the other girl introduced herself. "I'm Mia." The second girl said. "Hi my name is Kiona."
"What a beautiful name." Lexi spoke with enthusiasm. "Well we must get going, but since we bumped into you, we'd like to apologize by taking you clubbing." Mia said with a big bright smile on her face. I've never been invited clubbing anywhere but these girls seemed nice so I agreed.
We exchanged phone number and then we went our separate ways.

Sunday hit which is my other off day that Ben decided to give me. ( Ben is the owner of the coffee shop.) I was laying in bed getting ready to turn on the tv when I suddenly get a call from Ben.
"Hey I know I said today you didn't have to come in, but there is something important that we need to discuss." "So if you don't mind coming in real quick that would be appreciated." He said with what sounded like an attitude. I hung up the phone, put on my uniform and got ready to go in for work. I wasn't really surprised, he does stuff like this all the time.
When I entered the coffee shop Ben was sitting there practically waiting on me. He motioned for me to come sit down so I did.
"Kiona I know you've been working here for a long time... but I'm sorry to say we have to let you go." He said but didn't sound one bit of sorry. "Ben no, I really do need this job." What am I supposed to do now he's firing me, WAIT a second what did I even do? "Ben what did I even do for you to fire me." I questioned him. "Well you see we aren't having a lot of customers and we are going to have to close if we don't do something soon, so therefore we're laying you off." I've been working here for a long time and this is what I get.
I decided not fuss anymore because it was obvious he wasn't changing his mind. I took off my work uniform and left with sadness in me. Even though I didn't really like the job, it was the only source of income that I had.
