A girl from Ireland named Ileen Balket was born on a Hot summer day. When Ileen was born the bright sun shined on her and all her bones had been broken. She had a very bad disease called Osteogenesis Imperfecta. It is where you have very fragile and brittle bones. She couldn't walk or crawl when she was a baby. She had to sit in a wheel chair until she was 8. The doctors thought she had to be in a wheel chair for the rest of her life. But they were wrong. Ileen had leg braces she could try instead of the wheel chair. Ileen could run in the braces and do almost anything. She was a very smart and brave child. When she was 5 her legs were bent backwards and she was in bed for a year. She survived those painful memories as a little girl. She is 13 now and she still has the leg braces on. She is homeschooled and she doesnt have a lot of friends. She is used to being alone. Her father is a doctor and her mother is a nurse. Her 15 year old sister is taking medical school. She lives in a big house next to the ocean. Ileen thinks Ireland is beautiful but nobody else can see what she sees. When she is alone she takes long walks by the shore. She is suppose to follow in her familys footprints and do what they do. But Ileen has bigger plans.
