Chapter 1.) Introduction

1:   It was unusually cold today, even though I’m in New York, and it’s the middle of December, the temperature is seldomly this low. I walked back inside to grab an extra jacket; lord knows I’m going to need it. I usually walk to school with my best friend Kojimaru Miyaki, he’s Japanese, moved here from Japan about four years ago. We figured since our school doesn’t have P.E., we’d get our exercise on the way to school. However it’s way too cold to walk today, so I sent him a message saying I’d pick him up at his house in my car. My twin sister Skye decided not to go to school today. My mother told me that I didn’t have to go, but I like my school, considering I go to a performing arts school -- well a school for gifted people. I cranked my car, and waited for the heater to warm up. Koji’s house isn’t far from mine, so it didn’t take long to get there. He walked out his house as soon as I pulled up, got in the car and said “ Ohayo Kairon-Kun”, which means good morning (casually) in Japanese. 

2:  I replied good morning , in English of course , and I didn’t add “Kun” to the end of his name, he often uses Japanese honorifics, which usually irritates me. We stopped at a local diner like we do every morning. There were no customers todthis morning except for about two or three, plus us. By coming here every morning  Koji and I became pretty close with the owner, and the employees. One of the waitresses named Kathy came and took our orders, “ It’s like a ghost town in here “ said Koji. Kathy replied “ I know,  its probably due to the weather, Marvin said he’s going to close down for today if there aren’t more customers by noon. We took about thirty minutes to eat , and still had half an hour to get to school, we were never this early before, probably because we usually travel on foot. It took about seven minutes to drive to school , so we waited in the car until the bell rang. I'm an anounymous student at "Crystal High School", not grouped with the populars, not grouped with the losers, I'm just Kairon Sparks, average student with a 3.5 gpa.  

3:   Now Koji on the other hand is extremely smart, never achieving anything lower than a 4.0, but he's also great at sports. Koji and I have majority of our classes together, so we often work together. I prefer Koji over my other friends, he's shown great loyalty on several occasions. The day went by like a regular Thursday. We have the freedom to leave campus for lunch, as long as we're back before the bell. I decided to stay at school for lunch today, and i'm glad i did. A fight broke out between  two freshmen. It was a heated brawl, before Lola Chil intevened. Lola Chil , the most popular, beautiful, and talented student at Crystal High. She is a certified blackbelt in over seventeen diferent types of martial arts. She has clear brown skin, blood red eyes, and silky hair that ends at her waist, with the gleaming color of jet black, complemented by midnight purple highlights. whole body to the ground. The other guy filled with anger was still clawing at the student on the ground, hitting Lola in the process. She angrily takes his foot, and flips him onto the ground right next to the other boy. She glares at them both in spite , as they cringe in fear , she starts to fuss, " You both have the privelege to attend Crystal High, we dont carry a reputation of being goons, or any other negative reputations for that matter. If you guys want to fight so bad, then fight me! " They both stand up, and one of them runs off in embarrasment, the other stood up and asked her out, in which she replied " No thanks, I don't date thugs. " He was eventually escorted to the front office by a teacher, after they found the other student. Lola dissapeared into her crowd of admirers. 

4:   Despite her over-the-top social status, Lola is not concieted, she is very kind, puts down on no one, and is a very well-respected student. I have three classes after lunch. I won't see Koji again until my final class. About thirty minutes into my next class, my teacher sent me to the office to pick up some papers for him. I decided to take my backpack with me, considering my wallet, and phone were in there. Halfway to the office, I start thinking about my sister. Her name is Skye, we're identical twins. She was invited to Crystal High, but declined for reasons unknown by me. We get along pretty well, better than most siblings. I'm just seconds away from the office when "BAM!" I run into someone. It wasn't like I just bumped into this person, we crashed, both of our books, binders, pens, etc, went flying all over the place. I stand up stumbling, and look across from me to see Lola rubbing her forehead . I quickly rush over to help her up, asking if she was OK in the process. She gets up and claims that she's alright. I apoligize, telling her that I wasnt paying attention to where I was walking, in which she replies " theres no reason to apologize, it was my fault for texting and walking in the middle of the hall. " We gather our spilled items, and proceed to our destinations. I return to my class with the papers, and the teacher asked me what took so long. I explained the incident with Lola which he found funny. I returned to my seat, and waited for the period to end . I don't really care for this class, its full of idiots, and the teacher has a hard time controlling them despite his strict tendencies. Believe it or not, he's not physically weak.

5:    I went through my last two classes thinking about my encounter with Lola. It eas the first time i'd ever spoken with her. I told Koji about it, and he teased me of course. He usually hangs out at my house after school, my parents dont mind, due to him being very respectful. He is currently dating Skye's best friend, Anna Vibrante. Anna is also very polite although shes a slight bimbo, she'd very pleasant to be around. Koji and I went upstairs to my room to work on an assignment for our music class. The assignment was to write a song. This is actually the first time we've ever recieved an assignment like this, but I write songs in my spare time, so I told Koji that i'd give him a song from my book to save time. I pull out the silver colored notebook, and open it to the first page to find chemistry formulas written all over the page, I look to the top of the page to see the name Lola Chil. We must have mixe up our things when we bumped into each other. This situatuion is not good at all. I really dont want her to open that book. What is she reads one of my love songs. I've only let Skye look in that book a handful of times, and now, someone i barely know has it in their possession. I wasnt planning on going to school tomorrow, but i've got to get my book back as soon as possible. Tomorrow is Friday, I can't go the whole weekend without my book.

Chapter 2.) Releasing the Key

6:   Koji went home around 6:30 p.m. after we finished the assignment. We had to actually do it considering I didn't have my song book. The next morning I woke up ten minutes later, considering I didnt have to go get Koji. I ended up driving to school again, and didn't stop for food. As soon as I got to school, I scoped the area to find Lola, without success. I came to school for nothing, hardly anyone was here due to the upcoming holiday break. Hours passed until finally the last bell rang. I packed my things, and dissapointedly began walking to my car, when someone tapped my shoulder, I turned around to see Lola smiling. I take atleast three classes with her, so I wondered why I hadn't seen her all day. "Hey Kairon, Right?" She says. Yea that's me, I'm actually a bit suprised you know my name. "Well you are the star student of our music class." said Lola " I don't know if you noticed, but our notebooks got mixed up yesterday when we bumped into each other." I try to say in a cool tone. "Yea.. I hope you don't mind, but i kinda looked through the whole book." My heart fell into my stomach when she said that. I reply " Yea I already know you think they're dumb, a waste of time." I was overwhelmed to hear her say " Are you crazy??? Kairon, these lyrics are amazing, I actually wanted to ask you if you'd like to come over to my house this weekend, and record some of these songs, I have a recording studio at my house." Words couldn't explain the joy I felt at that moment. I was just invited to Lola Chil's house, I tried as hard as i could to contain my excitement, and accepted her invite. We exchanged cellphone numbers, and she told me that text me her adress when she gets home, and put her phone on the charger, Still wondering why I hadnt seen her all day, I asked where she'd been, In which she replied the kendo team had a tournament today. Considering shes team captain, I assume they placed pretty well, which I wasnt wrong, They placed first, with only two of their members being taking a loss.

7.    I would've invited Lola to go out with me, Koji, Skye, and Anna tonight, but I didnt want to push my luck. I got in my car and headed home. When I got home, I hugged my sister, and went upstairs to do a weekend assignment, which wasnt hard, all I had to do was complete a worksheet. I went downstairs to find Skye violently trash talking over a headset.. Did I metion shes a hardcore gamer, Despite her valley-girl personality, I'd bet on her against any loser, living in their parent's basement, with no job, who does nothing but play modern warfare all day, yea, shes that good. I sat there for a while watching her slaughter other players, and swear over the microphone at her opponents. I checked my phone and saw a message from an unfamiliar number, which I automatically presume to be Lola, I open the message, and it reads " Your life as you know it will soon change, for the key to your ability has been released." I deleted it, and thought nothing of it, assuming it was someone childish messing with random numbers, or someone simply just texted the wrong number. Moments later I recieve a message from another umfamiliar number, It being Lola this time with her adress. I saved her number to my contact kist, and copied the adress. I decided that the worst she could do was say no, so I gathered myself, and invited Lola out with us tonight.
