I thought Leo and I were doing okay. I thought all the sweet things Leo said were exclusive to me. And most importantly, I thought what Leo and I had was special.
I guess I was wrong.
Even throughout the hundreds of bodies dancing together to the blaring music of the house, I can see him kissing someone else, someone who isn't me.
I hug Amelia tightly one last time.
"Oh my gosh, I'm gonna miss you so much!" Amelia says and squeezes me tighter.
"Me too, Lia. I love you."
"Love you too, Asher," she says, pulling away from the hug. "Don't worry, I'll call you."
"You better," I jokingly pout.
"Yeah, and you better keep me updated on you and the hottie." She raises her eyebrows suggestively.
My cheeks heat pink, but I nod.
"Bye, Asher. I'll see you later," she smiles, and I wave as she heads out the door.
I settle back on the couch, playing some games on my phone.
After a while, Leo walks into the house, all sweaty and out of breath after returning from his workout. He is wearing a white tank top that shows off his bulging arms with a towel around his neck. His honey-brown locks are messy and wet, but he still looks handsome.
I pull the blanket higher to cover my flaming cheeks so that Leo can only see my eyes. Once he spots me from my place on the couch, he breaks out into a smile.
"Hey, gorgeous," he grins and walks into the kitchen to grab a drink from the fridge. "Did you have a good nap?"
"Mhm," I hum, happy that he is finally back.
He pops open a can of soda for himself but then walks over to the couch and hands me one too.
"Thank you," I mutter shyly, still not used to Leo's endless generosity.
"Are you hungry? Do you need anything before I get in the shower?" he questions.
"No, I should be okay."
"Okay, give me like fifteen minutes and then I'll be out here." He starts walking away, but I stop him.
"Leo?"
He turns around and says, "Yeah?"
"If you aren't too busy, do you wanna watch a movie with me after you are done?"
He smiles, "Of course." He then throws me a poetry book from off the counter. "Here's something to keep you occupied." Then he exits the room.
Sitting in my hands is yet another poetry book. I giggle and shake my head. Even though I talked to him at the beach about giving me too many gifts, he still continues to prove how much he cares.
