Janet's POV

I woke up to my alarm blaring, meaning I had to get up for school. Taking my phone off the charger, I went into the bathroom and connected my phone to my bluetooth speaker. Opening Spotify, I opened a playlist and listened to whatever was playing. I hopped in the shower, closing my eyes, letting the water hit my body, and the music filling my ears. I lathered my body with Strawberry Shortcake body wash, and rinsed off the suds after. Shutting off the shower, I took my white fluffy towel drying off my body. For my outfit, I chose a creme colored turtleneck, and flare jeans. I added a few pieces of jewelry and a purse that matched.

I started to fix up my hair my adding curl activator to define my curls. Finishing up, my phone started to ring. Michael was calling. I smiled and accepted it, and put him on speaker.

"Good morning, Dunk!" Michael sang into the phone, making me laugh.

"Good morning, Applehead!" I answered back. Michael was out on your for 'Dangerous,' and he was in town today. He kept complaining about how exhausting touring is, and how he "goes through hell."

"I made a friend at school yesterday," I told him. He started cheering, congratulating me. Michael was extremely supportive. "Her name is Toni Braxton. She was extremely welcoming, but I don't verbally communicate with her. I'm still not ready."

"It's okay, Dunk. I know what happens still hurts, but at least you'll have me to talk to," there was a pause. "Dunk, I gotta go. It's time for rehearsals. I love you, have a nice day at school!"

"Love you too, Mike. Bye!" I ended the call grabbing my bags, heading out the door.

There was a note on the counter from mother, saying she had to leave early for work. My phone pinged, and it was from Toni, saying she was outside. I forgot she said she would start taking me to school. I walked out, locking up the house, walking to her car. She got out of the car, opening the passenger door. I eyed her outfit, and I must say, she has great taste to be a nerd.

I sheepishly smiled, getting in. She closed the door for me, jogging to the driver side.

"Morning, Jan! Ready for the day?" She asked pulling out of the driveway.

I nodded my head, and began to scroll though my phone. Toni made a stop at Starbucks and ordered a Caffé Mocha. She turned to me and asked if I wanted anything. I nodded, writing down Mocha Frappucino. She nodded, saying my order into the speaker. She pulled up to the second window, handing me my drink. I smiled, taking a sip through the green straw, as she did the same.

Toni and I finished our first class and started to walk to our second. She said she had to make a stop at her locker, so I just followed. A girl approached with two other girls following behind. According to their clothing, they were cheerleaders, and the one in the front must've been captain, because hers had silver glitter. She started to twirl a strand of hair on her finger, waiting for Toni to notice her, but Toni didn't pay her no attention.

"Hi, Toni," the cheerleader said in a flirty tone, causing me to roll my eyes.

"Oh, hi Diamond... ladies," Toni waved smiling.

"Who's this?" Diamond asked looking at me up and down with a fake smile. I wrapped my arms around myself tighter looking down. Toni put her arms around my shoulders, causing me to relax.
