"Come on." Taīyo muttered as his fingers relentlessly scrambled across the keyboard of his laptop. He was thankful there was no one in the Student Union. It had been only a few hours since he began his investigation and after scouring every nook and cranny of the internet for information about the bloodthirsty villain known as Jin, his efforts seemed to only result in failure time and time again.

Password required...

"Work with me here." He growled.

Access denied...

"No."

"Ugh..."

"DAMMIT!!" Taīyo yelled loudly before he leaned back in his chair, fury pumping in his veins as he gripped some of his hair. As he stared at the ceiling, he could remember the hopeful smiles on his friends' faces as they looked him in the eye and pledged to do whatever it takes to help him find the answers that could not only save countless lives, but also the lives of his closest friends, Rinji Yagi and Tay Miyashiro.

Taīyo closed his eyes in defeat, which caused a tear to escape. He could still remember the look on his sister Yumi's face when he told her that he wanted to be a hero. That sparkle in her eye alone was enough to give him courage to enroll in U.A. Her smile was enough to give him the strength to face the many trials he will have to endure as a hero in training. Most importantly, it was her love that kept the fire inside him burning stronger than ever before.

Can you become a hero...for me? he recalled Yumi saying that fateful day.

Of course, I can, Yumi....and when I do become a hero... I promise save you...

Cross your heart?

At those words, Taīyo took several deep yet shaky breaths. The knot that had form in his chest worsened. Even though he had tried his hardest to keep his promise to her, he never ceased to recall the times he had stumbled along the way....and this moment right here as he sat before his laptop as the words "Access denied" flashed over and over really took the cake.

"I'm so sorry, Yumi....Tay....." He murmured, tears streaming down his face, his hand gripping his aching heart. "I tried..."

"Heya!" A voice cried, causing Taīyo to jolt before he collapsed to the floor along with his chair. As he got his bearings back, he looked up to see his childhood friend, Kana Dekiru, smiling at him.

"Kana!" Taīyo gasped as he clutched his chest. "Don't scare me like that."

"Taīyo, we've been friends since preschool." She smiled as she helped him to his feet. "It's my job to scare the crap out of you."

"Well, that's comforting." He grumbled as Kana leaned beside him.

"So how's the investigation coming along?" She questioned.

Taīyo only sighed. "Besides relearning what I already know about Jin, no dice." He frowned.

Kana then reached into her duffel bag, pulled out a series of folders and placed them on the desk.

"What are these?" He asked as he opened one of the folders and read the contents. Suddenly, his heart skipped a beat. "Wait. These are-"

"Yup. The eyewitness reports that Rinji and Tay read and found out more about Jin. I managed to find Mr. Hawks, told him about what's going on, and he gave me these to help with the investigation." Kana smiled brightly.
