There was a something about hosting a party that seemed to irk them. So many people there only to get drunk or try to support their business. They just wanted a small group of friends to enjoy time together and it ended with their house being filled with strangers. It was less than pleasant.
Their friend would have been on the balcony, yelling at the stars with a mug in his hand. Even with a wife he was one to drink until he couldn't remember his own name, the only thing on his mind getting back to his love. They always envied their relationship but had no real reason, it wasn't as though they had liked anyone before.
"Hey! This party is swell, not like the ritzy one we went to before." Their friend called from a little ways away, drawing their eyes over to see them crowed by people. Drinks could be seen getting spilt and the only thing on their mind was how much it would cost to clean it.
They simply waved in thanks, going back to their own world as the people around them continued to talk. They knew they shouldn't have been able know about the world they live in right now, but fate had a different plan and they had no choice but to follow it.
If only they had kept quiet on that faithful night, then they wouldn't have to keep occupying their life with pointless things.Because everything reminded them of their friend.

You woke up with a groan, your back cracking easily as you rose but you bent more to finish the job. Just from the sheets alone you could tell you hadn't slept good, although your new back problem explained it easily. Over the years you had learned ways of keeping your body durable, even if the food part wasn't included.
"Mister Butler!" A young voice called out to you, making you glance to your door in time to see it burst open. You were silently thankful you slept with thin layers of clothes on, ensuring nothing would show. "Ugh, your still not dressed? Hurry up, we have a full day ahead of us."
You looked at them as though they were crazy but huffed anyway, knowing there was no way out of it. "As you wish, your Majesty, please give me a few moments to look decent." Your voice was scratchy due to just waking but it was good enough for the kid, who responded with a nod.
You took your time in finding clothes that matched with the time, most still dating back to the nineteen hundreds and you understood it would be inappropriate. You doubted the two of you would be going anywhere remotely fancy, but made sure the choice of clothes matched that of the kids. It was a nice change from the usual attire you wore in the comfort of your home and had no doubt the kid would be surprised by it as well.
You fixed your hair and brushed your teeth, staring at yourself a little longer. This would be the first time you left your home, actually left your home, in years. You would walk amongst those whose ancestors you could have known personally and had to act as though you didn't see the buildings develop.
An impatient knock came to your bedroom door and you rolled your eyes at the child's eagerness, though that hadn't stopped the smile come onto your face. You went over and opened it, staring down at the bubbling child with an excitement of your own. It would be some type of adventure. "I am ready, if you wish I can allow you to practice driving my car to your desired destination."
The kid's eyes widened with both shock and worry. They had been asking to drive your car ever since they gained a permit but you had refused them the luxury. It wasn't due to any real reasons, mostly because you didn't want to leave your home. Your car wasn't hard to drive, it just took patience to learn and timing to study, both of which the kid had none of. "Nope! Not tricking me with that. You know I can't drive a stick and you know I'm in a rush, let's get a move on Butler, we got places to be."
They turned around sharply, hand still in the air as they started their way towards the door. You huffed out a laugh before following after, the smell of food wafting into your senses. You had been learning to cook and much the same, so had the kid. Some moments you guys would learn together but most of the time you would surprise each other with new dishes, this was one of those times.
The island was full of breakfast foods, most you would find in a hotel lobby. The smell was amazing and the gleam in the kid's eyes was unbeatable. They had tried so hard, it was clear to tell, and you would have it no other way.
You sat down next to them and together you began to eat. The food was amazing and so was the conversation, most of which revolved around a new love interest the kid was very excited to talk about. You listened intently when they spoke and gave advise when it was needed, making sure the child knew they weren't alone and someone wanted to hear their voice.
The day went on and the car ride was much like breakfast, conversation flowing easy even if eyes were rarely connected. The child took much dedication to pay attention to your moves and you tried to not let your amusement show, though it was hard to do.
You made sure to act as usual so the child took no concern, though your hands shook and your steps stuttered. The kid had noticed but stayed quiet, knowing that you didn't leave your house often and did everything in your power to stay away from others. They had questioned you on it and you explained that it was social anxiety, however that was not the full truth.
"Aye, Butler, come here so you can help me for a second." They spoke loudly but hadn't yelled, drawing very few eyes. You were thankful for that and made your way over quickly, standing much like a butler as the child liked to comment. "You can reach and I can't, and I swear to god if you make a short joke we are fighting in the middle of the store."
"You shouldn't swear on man you don't know, but I suppose I can help you get your desired figure." You gave them a cheeky smile and they simply rolled their eyes, waiting for you to grab the merchandise they wish to purchase.
From past conversations and events, you had learned the kid gained a steady flow of money. Most was from allowance and the rest came from tiny jobs the child would take up from time to time. That had been where they spent their time on weekends and where they informed you when they came home late on weekdays.
They took much pride in getting their own money and you couldn't help but feel the same. They were so young yet made themselves seem so old, it both concerned you and made you feel good about their future. "Butler, stop daydreaming so we can go get ice cream."
The child's voice made you roll your eyes but start moving, both of you heading for the counter. They set up the day for the both of you and you were simply following. The kid was so excited to explain the day that they planned that it was almost impossible for you to say no to anything they wanted.
The second car ride was filled with you talking, explaining what had been happening at work and the things you had done within your home. It was far less exciting than what the child had to say but they asked questions and made sure you felt just as heard as they did. It was a refreshing change of pace and after a year you were still not completely used to it.
The rest of the day was filled with you trying to keep calm as the child explored, showing you things you forgot existed and making you try new things. It was amazing you weren't allergic to anything and even more amazing that you were able to test as much food as you did.
The time you two spent together was amazing, and the erg to tell them of how long you lived came stronger as time continued to pass. There was no way you could hide it forever but understood the dangers of saying it. There was no good time to explain your true self and no better way to ease the blow of explaining how you came to be immortal. It would be like trying to convince a doctor he could fly a plane while doing surgery.
"I am exhausted," the kid started, falling back onto the couch lazily. "I'm thinking, we watch a movie, I beat your as- butt in uno, and then we take a drink to celebrate you leaving your home... sound good?" Their face held no comedy and that made yourself laugh.
"I believe we should drink first, as that takes the least amount of effort. Of course, this day is your planning and I will follow whatever you wish." You held onto a small smile as their eyes refused to leave yours, smiles passing between you two.
This kid, this strange child, would be hard to watch leave.A/N: I apologize for not uploading on the designated time, my computer is out of commission so I had to try and complete this from my phone. I will be uploading the second fourth chapter shortly.
