Xavion's Pov.
It's evening by the time Detective Milo calls back, letting us knows that they have a plan and they're on the way with everything we need. It'll be pretty late when they arrive, but we also have to start driving to meet them in a secluded location, far away from the city and it's prying eyes.
We head to a building owned by the National Investigation Bureau about two hours away, located on the other side of the mountains. By the time we arrive, it's the middle of the night and yet the two of us are awake and ready. Granted, we did take turns sleeping most of the day, waiting for his call.
Approaching a fenced area, I drive towards the gate and stops at a small building where the security guy is. "Names?" He questions, looking us over with a raised eyebrow.
Yeah, we definitely do not look like belong here and I doubt he's in the loop about this investigation. "Asher and Emery," I point at both of us.
The guy looks down at a clipboard, then pulls of a sticky note to read it, "Rusty car, Asher and Emery, young males," he reads off quites, glances between us and the paper. "You may enter," he shrugs, looking a little unsure. Not sure that's who you should put at the gate, but this location doesn't keep much secret information either.
Driving down the dirt road for a few minutes, we finally approach the two story building that lights up the surrounding trees. Parking in a parking spot of the side and beside a nice SUV, we make our way to the front door.
"Hey!" Detective Milo shouts as he opens the front door, waving us down, "Come in," he urges.
Emery and I glance at eachother before rushing in, possibly looking a little suspicious. Detective Milo leads us down a few corridors till we reach a locked door that opens with a key card. Inside the room is a little nice, with an electric fireplace, couch, chairs, and table set up in the middle.
I proceed to take a seat at the head chair, curious as to what Detective Milo has in store for us. "Welcome to your hideout," he sings as picks up a couple hangers with suits on them, "got these just for you," he hands them to me.
As I look the clothes over, he hands Beta Aryan his. "Good choice in fashion," I speak up, setting them off to the side. "Now let's talk about what's going to happen next."
"Straight to the point as always," Detective Milo takes a seat to my left on the couch. He pulls out some papers and give Beta Aryan and I a stack each. "To put this simply, the two of you went on vacation as test to test Gamma Quinn's ability as well, Gamma," he says, looking down at his own papers.
I nod slowly, taking it in. "A reasonable excuse, but I'm a little in doubt if the people of my pack will accept it," I reply, looking over the papers myself. They all go indepth of different scenarios, but the one they want to focus on is a press conference in Grove City to pretty much tell everyone what he just told me.
"I understand your concerns Alpha, but the board unanimously agrees that this is the best option, due to the probable outcomes. If people think your lying, then so be it, not everyone is going to agree with you. If they ask for proof, say you've been staying at your cabin, to which most people know is off the grid and away from the pack. You have a problem, we have a solution," he sounds like a shady salesman trying to sell me something I don't want to buy, but I'll bite.
Setting down the papers, I look over at Beta Aryan, "Do you have any questions or concerns?" I ask, wanting to make sure my right hand man is also a willing participant in lying to the whole pack.
"When will this press conference be held?" He questions, fully reading through every page. He's going to be my best bet on remembering this whole book of scenarios.
Detective Milo flips to the last page, "Tomorrow at 3pm, location is the city hall. We already called it in, so you should arrive there at 2:30pm as to not be late. There will be no guards due to the secrecy previous mentioned, so keep your own guards up, the city is a dangerous place," he says, tossing his papers onto the table. "Now that we have finished the boring part, I have a gift for you two that I think you'll enjoy," he winks, standing up.
He leads us back down to the first floor and into a garage, turning the light on we see a shiny new two door sports car. "Since you've learned how to drive stick, I figured that you'd enjoy this Alpha," Detective Milo smiles proudly. He's won my favor for sure.
Aryan groans, "This is a bad idea," he says as I take a look around in bliss. This thing is beautiful! I know nothing about cars, but I have to admit that I am excited to have this baby for a day.
"Nah, I think you'll do great," Detetive Milo, chuckles, tossing the keys over to me, "I think you two should go and get some sleep before the big conference. Read over your papers and well, I wish you luck," he says, opening the garage door for us. "The bathrooms are out this door and off to the left. I have to get back to headquarters, so when you're finished, return here to change back and retrieve your... car," he says referring to the shitbox outside that stands out like a sore thumb.
"Oh," he pauses before heading out, "and take this Alpha, it'll counter the effects that keep your scent hidden," he tosses me a perfume looking bottle then leaves. I look down at it, suddenly remembering my mate situation. If she's in Grove City, then she will find out I'm her mate.
Beta Aryan opens the tiny trunk and tosses in the extra suit, keeping one to change in. "Let's go get this overwith," he says, knocking me out of my thoughts. I nod and follow him to the bathroom, attempting to forget the thoughts lingering in my head.
