"Harriet, just breathe, and tell me what's scaring you" Orlando signed to me, as he pulled me away from him, pushing my hair out of my face, and looked into my eyes. "Mark, your father, he's been doing research, experimenting with chemicals and what not, to create some sort of antidote for the virus that's going around" i signed, as we stood in the hall together. He looked behind me, he seemed as though he was on his way to see his father.
"Orlando, you can't go back there" i signed, as he started to walk past me, before turning to my direction again. "Why not?" he signed, as my heart was racing. "Ally's been missing since February, and now i know why" i signed, as i saw the look in his eyes. "Orlando, she's patient zero and Mark has been trying to save her" i signed, as he looked at my hands. Before shaking his head, running his hands through his hair, as he walked away from me for a second.
"Are you sure?" he signed, "he literally just tried to kill me, because i was against him trying to create a cure. There is no cure Orlando, these hearkens, they're trying to wipe our species out of existence. I read his journal!" i signed, handing the book to him as he took it from me. "We need to get out of here, it's only a matter of time before-" i start, before i see Ally standing over Mark's body down the hallway in front of us. As she stares at him, her mouth wide, her eyes black, and Mark lying there unconscious. "What is it-" Orlando started, but i prevented him from turning around. I just took his hand, "trust me" i mouthed, as we ran down the hall.
"I have to get Henry" i signed, as we kept running, there were times where he wanted to ask me what we were running from, but we can't look back, we couldn't even check to see if anything was following us. Cause the minute we did, we would lose everything. "Go, i'll meet you at home" Orlando signed, as i nodded. I knocked on Claire's door, as she opened a few moments later. That was when i ran inside, closing the door behind both of us. "Woah, hey? what's going on?" she signed, as i looked out the peep hole. "Nothing.. everything's fine, just listen to me" i signed, turning to her. "Where's Henry?" i asked, as she pointed to her bedroom.
"I just put him down for a nap" she signed, as i sighed. "Whatever happens, don't leave this room, okay?" i sign, as she looks at me confused but sort of frightened. "Harriet, you're scaring me, what's going on" she signed, as i walked past her to her bedroom. Seeing Henry sleeping soundly in a play pen. Placing him in my arms, as she watched me. "Harriet!" she signed, as i walked to the front door. "I need you to trust me, don't leave this room, it's too dangerous. It's Ally she's.." i start, as i stood in the hallway. "She's what?" Claire asked.
"She's patient zero" i sign.
"Lock your door and keep it locked" i signed, as she nodded, gripping the side of the door before exchanging a "stay safe" look with me, while it closed. I held Henry close to my chest, as i scurried down the hall. Checking my surroundings to make sure nothing was chasing me. But the moment i went to pass through the mess hall, the hairs on the back of my arm stood up. And all of a sudden i felt like someone was behind me. I looked over at the emergency ax on the wall, sprinted, punched my fist through the glass, and then gripped the ax in my hand.
Turning to see everyone staring in fear at Ally, who was across from me, in the middle of the cafeteria. Henry was crying in my grasp, and it ached my heart that i was putting him through stress, but mommy needed to focus. I tried not to look in her eyes, and that's when i noticed her heavy breathing, her lack of clothing covering her bluish limbs, and her hair that seemed like it was falling out of the scalp, everyone else was frozen in fear.
Before i could run and swing towards her, a few people around me, turned to look at me with black eyes, as i turned, shutting my eyes. Swinging the ax in several different directions, before someone takes it out of my hands.
