One rainy day, a guy named Alex was walking in the park. And then, to his surprise, a lady was running and went past him, and then she tripped off. Alex helped her. "Thank you." The woman said. "You're welcome." He replied. "You look tired; I'll take you to your house." "Thank you very much, kind sir." The lady replied with joy. "Where's your house?" Alex asked. "Over there. That red house is mine." "Okay." He said. He brought her to her house. When they came to her house, the lady said, "Thank you very much, sir." Alex then said, "Oh yeah, I haven't introduce myself yet. I'm Alex. What's your name?" Then the lady said "Claire. Thank you so much for helping me, Alex." "It's nothing, really." Alex then said with a little blush. "Well, see ya, Claire." "Okay."
When Alex got home, he went to his room to write in his diary. He wrote:
"Dear Diary,
Today I saw a very beautiful girl. Her name was Claire. We met at the park, where she tripped off and I helped her. When I looked into her eyes, it's like the rain stopped. I really hope I get to see her again.

The Next Day. . .
It was a very beautiful day, with a very beautiful weather. The wind blew gently and the sun was not very hot. Alex thought of going to the park, thinking that he'll see Claire again. When he went to the park, he was surprised. He saw Claire with another guy. "Hello, Alex!" Claire said when she saw him walking. "Hello, Claire. Who's that with you?" He immediately asked. Claire quickly replied "This is my friend, Zack." "Hello, Alex." Zack said with a slight anger in his face. "Hello, Zack. So, what are you two doing here?" Alex asked. Claire replied, "We're here because-""Because we are dating." Zack quickly interrupted Claire's speech. "Really? Sorry to bother you then. I guess I'll go." Alex replied with a sad look on his face. When he was about to leave, Claire stopped him. "Wait! I-I don't know where your house is." Alex then looked back and said, "Okay, here's my address. Come by if you like." Alex then left running, with tears in his eyes. "Alex..." Claire whispered. Zack then said, "Claire."
"Yes?"
"No one's taking you from me. No one. Always remember that."
When Alex was home, he wrote in his diary again. . . :
"Dear Diary,
It happened again. I saw Claire again in the park, but she with another guy. His name is Zack. They were... dating. And I accidentally interrupted them. I never knew she had a boyfriend. Well, I just knew her yesterday, anyway. I wish I could still be her friend. Only a friend...
-Alex
Alex and Claire always meet at the park every day. They would wander across the city, eat lunch in a restaurant, and sometimes go to Alex's home, because Zack would get mad if they went to Claire's house. They had so much fun with each other; many people thought they were a couple. They would always see each other, but then, one Valentine's Day, Alex went to the mall to buy Claire a gift a gift and flowers. But suddenly. . . He got hit by a car. His head smashed to the ground so hard many people heard it. He was put to a hospital. When Claire heard the news, she hurriedly came to the hospital to look for Alex.
"Where is he?! Where's Alex?!"
"Calm down. He has just finished surgery. He had a severe brain damage, so he will have amnesia."
"What?! But will he be alright, Doctor?"
"He will. He just needs a little rest. You can visit him if you want."
"T-Thank you!"
When Claire came in Alex's room, she saw Zack holding a gun and aiming it at Alex.
Claire shouted as Zack was about to pull the trigger, "NO! DON'T!!!"
She caught Zack and he was put to prison for trying to murder someone. Since then, Claire always stayed by Alex's side. She never left the hospital. She "lived" there, just to watch over Alex. The report for Alex was released.
"It seems that his brain has survived the amnesia. He will not forget anything at all. But it's almost impossible how. The smash of his head was very hard."
"I see... Thank you, Doctor."
When the doctor left, Alex woke up.
"Uhhh... Where am I?"
"Alex!" Claire shouted with joy.
"Claire? Oh yeah, where are the flowers? Where's my letter?"
"They all got destroyed when the car hit you. They somehow defended you."
"Really? Well, Happy Valentine's Day."
Claire slaps him gently.
"Don't go saying that now."
"But I haven't said it to you yet."
"It's already February 20."
"So I slept for 4-5 days? Oh man."
Claire chuckles a bit.
"Listen, I still remember what the letter said. Can I say it to you?"Alex asked.
"Sure." Claire gently and sweetly answers.
"Okay then. Here we go. . . :
Dear Claire,
Thanks for being my best friend. I never had a friend like you, someone who's always there for me. We would always meet at the park every morning and wander in the city. We'd eat in a restaurant for lunch. And then we'd hang out in my house in the afternoon. When you're there, my house feels so alive, but when you leave, it becomes so gloomy again. Even though you never knew (maybe), I treasure you and take care of you every time we meet. I also treasure every moment we have we we're together. It feels so different; it feels like you're my closest friend. . . No, my sister. . . No, I felt something that I couldn't explain. It feels like everytime I'm alone, the environment is always raining. But when I'm with you, it's always like the second day we met. I don't know how to say it, and I can't really say it at all, but. . . Even though you have someone else, I. . . . . I still love you. I hope we'll never be apart. Ever. I want to be together with you for my whole life. I hope you feel the same, too. I just want to say that I love you, that's all this letter is for. I'll be waiting for you to say those three or four words to me, so better think about it.
Your "friend",
Alex.
There were tears in Claire's eyes. When Alex finished stating the letter, she hugged him immediately, and then said. . .
I love you too, Alex.
Alex then hugged her and cried with her. After two months, Alex was able to leave the hospital and live with Claire. They were married 4 years after and had two kids, named Alexie and Kyle. They had a very successful life. Before Alex died, he wrote a letter to Claire, the same letter that he was never able to give. 10 years after Alex's death, Claire died as well. Their graves were at the side of each other, just like them when they were alive.
