Bennett was left alone in his room at the mercy of his thoughts after a long succesion of unlucky events. And his thoughts are... less than merciful

>self-deprication (a lot of it),
>suicidal thoughts (theres like one line hinting at them)
>self-harm(burning)

Bennett threw the sheets over his head, trying to block out the annoying rays of morning sunshine that unfortunately had free access to his room.
The curtains were either constantly burnt or torn down by Bennett's clumsiness.
After a while he simply found it pointless to constantly replace them. The easy way out was just giving up on having any.

In the darkeness the blanket provided, he found some much needed warmth and  comfort. Reaching out for one of the many pillows on his bed, he managed to grab one, while the rest fell to the ground or ended up out of his arms reach.
Hugging and burying his face in it, he feelt slightly at peace.
Warmth and stillness surrounding him.
Everything was fine.

Only for a short while however, before it got too quiet and trying to only focus on the sound of his breathing was getting really difficult.
All the heavy thoughts keeping him in the bed that morning made his previously comfortable void suffocating.

Thinking back at the past week, it felt never ending yet it came by so quickly.
So many things went wrong in the stupidest, most embarrassing and generally worst of ways.

To all that, it also did not help that two days ago, after an incident with a faulty wing from a windmill that came crashing down and  severely injuring him and nearly killing an unfortunate passer by, his reputation started to spread like an uncontrollable forest fire.

Everyone in Mondstadt at this point knew that his presence only ment bad news.
They immediately either exused themselves turning the other way, or just straight up ignored him when he showed up.
Perhaps pretending that he wasn't there would lower the chances of an entire building collapsing next.
He wasn't sure that's how it worked tho.

Aalmost as if that last mishap was what finally made the city snap at him.
No longer afraid and perhaps even feeling validated in their distain for the adventurer.

Admittedly, Bennett knew people in Mondstadt weren't bad people, not in general.
Perhaps the most open nation to outsiders and travelers in all of Teyvat has it's carefree and welcoming reputation for a reason.
And even if there is a bad apple in the bunch, it will be thrown out of the barrel by the genuine goodheartedness of the city, eventually.

And right now, he started to feel as if he was that rotten apple the people will now do anything to get rid off.

He was bad luck after all.
He broke and lost things that a lot of the time were actually precious items.
He intervened in important plans and events, complicating or ruining them.
He bothered and inconvenienced people at the worst times.
If he was feeling extra cheeky that day, he'd cause them to get sick and or injured and now, he nearly got a person killed.

Everyone was absolutely justified in their avoidance.

No one in their right mind and with solid plans to the future would like to stick with a person that is notorious for making everything crash and burn just with his presence.

Nobody would want to travel with someone who never shuts up and keeps jumping around, blabbing on about irrelevant things all day.

No one would want to camp out with someone who either severely undercooks or burns all the food he makes.
