𝕴t was an obnoxiously bright and sunny late-August evening, and even the heavy curtains couldn't hold back the slightly golden beam of seething sunlight.
It illuminated the falling dust particles in the air and made them look like sparks of fire.
The room was stuffy and recently emptied of all things that held your childhood memories.

'Tomorrow I will return to Hogwarts…,' you thought as you packed the last piece of clothing into your far-too-full suitcase.

…They had changed up the uniform design in the 3 years that you had been gone…

It felt strange going back there…
You weren't particularly thrilled, frankly.
All your friends would have graduated, so the only familiar things that could bring you comfort were the buildings, a few teachers and ghosts, and the old routine of going to the lessons.
Sounded quite lonely, didn't it?

But it was definitely better than spending your days cowering in a deserted house of childhood nostalgia of which you couldn't afford the upkeep.
Now that your parents were gone, at least …

Ever since you quit your education at Hogwarts 3 years ago, you had gone back to living at your family's mansion.

Back then, a flare-up of your anxiety combined with the stress of studying and the strange things that started happening at Hogwarts had pushed you into a full-on burnout, so your parents, along with the headmaster, had decided that it would be better if you took a break.

During those 3 years at home, your father taught you where he could when he wasn't at work and, the rest of the time, you buried your nose in the books of the mansion's private library.

You hadn't learned as much as you would've at the school for witchcraft and wizardry, but maybe that was the very reason you hadn't relapsed or gotten worse.
In fact, the therapy you attended helped you a great deal — enough that you didn't feel completely unprepared going back to Hogwarts, anyway…

Two months ago, however, your safe space was shaken to the core, when your biggest supporters were taken from you.
Your mother and father had been out of town for business. Not a rare thing for them to do, …but that time, they had not returned.

It was the next morning, when you heard the devastating news of their accident.

Apart from being inconsolable, you now also had to face the problem of figuring out the finances.
In the wizarding world, there weren't any places you could work without having properly graduated from a wizarding school. In your case, that was Hogwarts.

During the last two months, you had been living off of your inheritance, but, while it wouldn't be running low anytime soon, it felt wrong just spending and not earning.

On top of that, if you had just kept on living that way, eventually, you wouldn't have been able to pay the mansion's staff anymore and the breathtaking Blackstone family manor house would've begun wasting and rotting away.

It would've broken your heart, so you had no other choice but to sell it and officially graduate school to, then, be able to start a proper career.
