𝕴t was getting late as you sauntered down to the dungeons and the Slytherin Common Room, from where you would be able to get to the dormitories.

At least according to your wristwatch, it was.

Where you were now, there were no windows to look out of and gauge the time.
All you could see left and right were solid cold and grey stone walls that were, sometimes, decorated with ornaments carved from said stone, wall carpets or were lined with moving portraits.

With each step that took you deeper into the dungeons, the temperature seemed to drop a little, making a shiver run down your spine now and then.

He would have an eye on you, he said…
You could hardly imagine the Professor's gaze getting any more intense or analysing than it had been in the past.
Snape always appeared to be on-guard for anything and anyone at any time. Nothing ever seemed to escape his notice.

You bet Dumbledore, a close friend of your late parents, ordered the Potions Professor to take extra good care of you for the time being.

You were thinking about whether to be excited, nervous, concerned, or thankful about this when your eyes glided over the golden name signs on the walls that were glimmering in the flickering light of the torches on the walls.
The thin metal signs were engraved with the initials of the students' first names followed by their family names.

You walked and walked, scanning the golden plaques, never finding your name on any.
What was going on?
Did they forget about you?

You looked from side to side anxiously, when a young black boy with damp coily hair stepped out of one of the rooms staring at you with a look of reproach.
He was wearing an emerald green bathrobe and was drying his hair with a snow-white towel.

He looked you up and down, his eyes lingering on your short hair, then flicking down to your pants.

"...This is the boys' side of the dormitory…, you know right?"

Huh?

You blinked profusely, dumbfounded, then apologized, turned on your heel and hurried in the direction you'd come from.

"Who was that, Blaise?" you faintly noticed a child's voice asking behind you.

"Absolutely no idea…," you thought you heard the boy from before answering.

So there was another thing that would be different from your previous years at this school, it looked like.
There were quite a few things you would have to get used to in the coming months, weren't there?
