Mr. Freeze

Victor Fries is one of Batman's most interesting characters but the most underused. He's just used as the ice guy in most media, and nothing else. That's why I made a story about him and his origins of how he became Mr. Freeze. Being a very tragic villain he has so much potential to be more. The story would take place in the early 70s and would be about how Victor Fries became Mr Freeze.

The year is 1972 as Victor and Nora Fries enter their new home. This was the first home they could call theirs because Nora didn't feel at home in the mansion her parents owned. Victor never had a home either after being disowned by his parents many years ago. Victor and Nora met in college together, Victor majored in cryogenics and Nora in an art major.

They meet and hit it off almost immediately, Victor is finally happy. When he met Nora's parents, Elias and Danielle Sanders, they didn't like him. They only saw her going to Gotham Community College as a hobby. When they found out Victor wasn't as wealthy as them, they wanted Nora to leave him. She made the first choice in her life and left her parents with Victor.

After both graduating college in 1971 victor proposed to Nora on the spot. Seeing he didn't have much money they stayed only in a small apartment. Victor and Nora got married on christmas eve. Nora always liked the snow, seeing her parents never let her do anything. Now that they finally got a home to themselves they can finally relax and have their happily ever after.

Sadly that's not how this story ends, since Nora left her parents she didn't have much money. So they both got jobs around Gotham city, Nora got a good job at the Gotham City Library. Victor on the other hand tried getting a job at places like LuthorCorp, STAR labs and Mercury Labs. They said he didn't fit their criteria. Victor did eventually get a job at Wayne Enterprises, but not as a scientist like he wanted, but a janitor.

After a few weeks Victor and Nora struggle to keep the bills up, especially after getting married. One day at Wayne Enterprises Victor accidentally runs into Ferris Boyle, one of Wayne Enterprises head cryogenics. He tells Victor if he wanted to he'd fire him on the spot but a young Lucius Fox intervenes. Victor thanks him and Lucius says to treat all workers like family.

After work Victor and Nora get a letter from Nora's mother, Danielle Sanders. It says they are willing to forgive Nora and accept Victor into the family if they attend a gala for Mr. Wayne. Nora still had her silver dress that she took from her parents when she left. Victor on the other hand had an old suit and tie with a few tears in it. Nora patched most of it up to make it look nice. The newly wed couple make their way to the Sanders mansion in their old car that is a miracle it still runs.

They look extremely underdressed compared to everyone else. Victor sees many high class people he'd never see in his life. He first sees Commissioner Loeb, The Luthors, The Cobblepots, Zsasz's, The Luthors, and many other high class families. Many of the families stare at Victor and his attire, to them it's an insult. Victor and Nora meet with Nora's parents as the Cobblepots compliment Nora and indirectly insult Victor to his face.

Elias says that they only invited them so Nora would stay home permanently and Victor to never see her again. He sees Victor as below him and not worth his time. Victor stands up to the old rich couple and says he doesn't love Nora because of the money, but because of the person she is. Victor is asked to leave the room as Nora speaks with her parents alone. Nora yells at her parents that they should start respecting Victor now that he's family. Danielle says that Victor corrupted her and made her one of the peasants.

Nora tells them for once in her life she's happy and doesnt have to put on a fake face for anyone anymore. She tells her parents that instead of having some five course meal made by some chef she went to Big Belly Burger and she enjoyed it. Saying the five dollar burger she had was better than anything her parents forced her to eat. Elias says that if she doesn't leave Victor she will be disowned and not get an inheritance, he also says she should have ended up with the Wayne boy instead of some nobody. Nora says she loves Victor and nothing will change that.
