"Wooyoung?... Is that you?"
He called again. And San couldn't believe it.
"Are you alright?" He didn't even bother hiding his concern, for some reason.
"Yes~ I'm actually pretty bored. Playing cards with nanna is fun, until she gets upset and grumpy for losing..."
Wooyoung laughed a little.
That lifted some weight off of San's heart.
'His laughter is... kinda cute...'
"Yeah? Well... don't be too rough on your nanna, you should let her win once or twice."
"Why? She's so cute when she gets so pent up because of UNO."
"Maybe you should play one more time and reset the score?"
"Mm..."
"..."
"...maybe later when she comes back. She went to our neighbor, Mrs. Im. Probably gossiping about me... or her nephew."
"..."
"Do you know him?"
"Yeah, I mean, I know he's 4 years older than me and he's in college, but we didn't cross paths much. He doesn't talk much. I think he's shy."
'Adorable–'
"O-Oh, I see... uh, what about school? How was school today?"
"The same..."
"Did they pick on you again?"
"N-Not really, they only took my lunchbox."
"I see..."
"..."
"Did you eat anything when you got back home?"
San imagined that the younger male couldn't do anything but to give it to them, unless he didn't want to get beaten to a pulp.
He knew such case, because he had a younger brother that he had to protect in school.
Sometimes, San showed up on time. Sometimes, he was too late.
"Nee~ nanna made me my favorite. Did you eat, ahjussi?"
San almost chuckled at the way he was called. Something that doesn't happen often.
"I- yeah, I did." He looks down at the small plate which hosted the sandwich. With a small nod to himself, he let it down on the coffee table. "You can call me San if you're comfortable with it."
"...like mountain?"
"W-Well... yeah, basically."
Wooyoung giggled so sweetly again.
"I like it, San-ssi~"
The blonde had no idea what was happening to his face, but there was this warm sensation grounding his cheeks so possessively.
Did... someone really make him blush?
'Not just someone. A stranger.'
Well, could he be counted as a complete stranger if San already knew so many things about him?
"What... what about your brother?" That's not what he wanted to ask. "Did you get the chance to talk to him?"
"Mmm... no, not yet. But he called nanna and told her that he'll visit on Friday."
"That's... great news, right?"
"Yeah-"
"Wooyoung, listen..."
San let out a long sigh, gathering the courage for this big step that he almost never does.
He could ace every subject and nail every task. But apologizing wasn't simply his forté.
"I'm... I'm really sorry about last time. I didn't mean to make you feel bad-- A-Actually, I didn'y mean to ask that in the first place, it just slipped and-"
"It's fine, San-ssi. I'm not upset with you, I just... panicked a little-"
"Oh."
San was relieved. He could let out a sigh out of pure happiness, but refrained himself.
He had no idea why he felt so guilty and indebted to Wooyoung with that apology. Or why did he want to get the change to apologize so badly.
Maybe it was the pity he felt for the boy.
"San-ssi, I have to go, I think nanna's-"
"..."
"Wooyoung-ah! Did you clean your room? If I come in and find dirty socks everywhere..."
San chuckled under his breath.
"Y-Yeah, she's here! I have to go, but...
c-can I call you from time to time?"
'Why? Does he really find pleasure in talking to me?'
"Y-Yeah, if that's what you want. But I'm a boring person, I have to warn you."
"I know. Bye-bye~"
And he hung up the phone.
But Wooyoung left something behind their brief, casual talk.
A smile plastered on the older's lips.
