EXT. SHIPYARD - THE DOCKS - TOKYO - NIGHT
An eerie industrial dock looms outside the city. Judy and Nick cautiously survey the desolate shipyard, Judy signaling to Nick that it's clear. Nick nods, his expression serious as he heads towards a looming building.
INT. SHIPYARD - NIGHT
Rod Redline hangs from a car magnet, battered and barely conscious. Grem, Acer, and their gang of thugs surround him amidst the maze of crates and containers.
GREM (O.S.)
"I gotta admit—"
GREM
"—you tricked us real good."
ACER
"And we don't like being tricked."
Rod chuckles weakly.
ACER
"What's so funny?"
ROD REDLINE
"Just a disguise. You guys are stuck looking like that."
No amusement from them. They drop Rod onto a treadmill, securing him tightly. A container approaches, filled with Allinol gasoline.
ROD REDLINE
"Allinol? Thanks, fellas. I hear this stuff is good for you."
Professor Zundapp emerges from the shadows.
PROFESSOR ZUNDAPP
"Allinol by itself is good for you."
Zundapp hits a button, setting the treadmill in motion, as cops stealthily enter the compound, observing.
PROFESSOR ZUNDAPP
"But it has one small weakness. An electromagnetic pulse makes it deadly."
GREM
"Smile for the camera."
Rod eyes the World Grand Prix camera nervously.
ROD REDLINE
"Is that all you want? I got a whole act."
PROFESSOR ZUNDAPP
"You'll see what it does soon enough."
Rod watches surveillance footage of himself at the party.
ACER
"You talked up a lot of cars. Who's your associate?"
ROD REDLINE
"Your sister. Or was it your mother? Hard to tell."
GREM
"Can I start it now, Professor?"
PROFESSOR ZUNDAPP
"Fifty percent power."
ACER
"What about her? Did you give it to her?"
PROFESSOR ZUNDAPP
"The Allinol heats, cracks the engine block, forces oil into the chamber."
Rod's engine begins to falter.
ACER
"And him? You talk to him?"
ROD REDLINE
"I can replace an engine block."
PROFESSOR ZUNDAPP
"Not after the pulse."
ACER
"And him? Does he have it?"
Mater appears on the screen, unnoticed by anyone but Nick.
NICK
"Is that the tow truck?"
PROFESSOR ZUNDAPP
"That's him. He's the one."
GREM
"Roger that."
ROD REDLINE
"No!"
As the machine intensifies, Zundapp makes a call.
PROFESSOR ZUNDAPP (INTO PHONE)
"We believe the infiltrator has leaked sensitive information. I'll take care of it."
JUDY
"We have to find Mater before they do."
NICK
"What about Torque, I'm going after him."
Nick hesitates, then rushes towards Torque, but freezes as Zundapp's words sink in.
PROFESSOR ZUNDAPP
"Find and kill him."
On the monitor, Rod explodes, leaving Nick and Judy horrified.
