I'm pretty sure this a nine tailed wolf but yea he has a nine tailed wolf form which his zampakuto has 

his zampakuto is named fenrir which is a scythe which has a sword form and the spirit in the scythe is a woman name fafnir she is the ship like its his second half as soon as he becomes a vasto lord she will come into being
