"Troutpaws you will be leading a hunting patrol with Hollystep and Spiderfang. Hollystep take your apprentice, Frogpaw, with you." A slim she-cat stood on a fairly small boulder as she barked out the words. Her tail lashed in a steady rhythm as she spoke to the warriors, "Frozenstream will lead the western border patrol with Jaggedstrike, Maplepelt, Dapplebreeze, and Yarrowpaw." Cats filled the small camp, many conversing while others tuned in to the words the she-cat has been speaking. Kittens bounced around the nursery den while the Queens tried to keep them still for a grooming, Elders were basking in the warm sun to aid their cold bodies.
Once the patrols were set out the light colored she-cat leaped down from the rock to only be greeted by Snowstar. "Ah Pebblecloud, up and early as per usual I see," the leader teased lightly to the other. Pebblecloud flicked an ear in annoyance as she turned her head away from the leader. "I am not a kitten, Snowstar. Please treat me like any normal cat." Snowstar couldn't help but stifle a chuckle at Pebblecloud's reaction, remembering when they were just a kitten.
She was such a handful when the feline was a young cat, her mother was barely able to contain the ball of energy. Watching Pebblecloud grow up was a sight to see for Snowstar, watching as they matured and become well in the arts of battle and leadership. When she became the leader of Riverclan, Snowstar knew Pebblecloud would fit the role well of becoming her deputy.
"My apologies, Pebblecloud. It feels like it was just yesterday you became an excited little apprentice ready to take on the wilds." Snowstar looked at her clan camp, watching as it was full of life and laughter. She was grateful that greenleaf has been plentiful in prey, alongside herbs for Coldstone to heal her warriors. Ever since she had become a leader there has yet to be any wars or disagreements with the four clans, making her feel relaxed in this peaceful time. It was not everyday things will be this peaceful.
As if jinxing herself, a group of cats scattered into the camp from the entrance, each one in panic as they did. Snowstar gazed at the group of cats, remembering each one by name. Leafsight, a calico cat with dark green eyes, was in front of the group. Robinpaw and Timberclaw not far behind, both being fairly dark in coloration. The last one to enter the camp was a large tom cat, one with an intimidating glare to him and can strike fear into the smallest of cats. Owlstrike. He is a very charming tom cat if you are on his good side, and typically acts like a kitten when around kittens.
"I sent them out not long ago towards the northern border," Pebblecloud whispered towards Snowstar before stepping forward to meet with the patrol. Cats were whispering about this sudden ruckus, many had eyes on them while the group of cats laid on the ground in panic. "Looks like you have seen a ghost," Snowstar commented before looking towards Owlstrike. "What is your report?"
Owlstrike bowed his head towards his leader before speaking, "We were marking the territory near the Windclan border before being caught off guard by a two leg kit." Panic flood the clan camp, cats gasping while mothers were ushering their children into the nursery den. Snowstar slowly waved her tail to silence the commotion before speaking. "So it seems the twolegs came back to their dens near that border. Is any cat hurt?"
"Nothing serious but Robinpaw did injure his paw during the retreat."
"Understood, send him to Coldstone. The rest of you go rest," Snowstar ordered.
The cats nods their heads before dispersing, the other clan cats slowly dying down their excitement and began to talk in hushed voices. Snowstar looked over towards Pebblecloud, seeing as they were calm throughout this whole conversation. "Pebblecloud, gather a group of cats and go investigate how bad this situation is. Do not get noticed and come back after you gather information." Pebblecloud nods her head before disappearing into a group of warriors. Snowstar gazed over towards Owlstrike, himself sitting their in wait for orders.
"I know you had just ran here but I have an important task for you. While the twolegs are being investigated I need you to warn Windclan of the danger." Owlstrike blinked for a few moments before questioning the words of his leader. "Why must we warn them?" Snowstar sighed before sitting down. Sometimes she questions that herself but she rather not have twolegs see any of the clans. Last thing they need is twolegs poking their heads around the territory to find a large group of cats. "The twolegs are just a big of a threat to us then they are to them. If we want to protect the forest we must warn them."
Owlstrike nods his head and exits the camp with haste. The leader watched as the tom cat left the camp, wishing to Starclan that everything will be fine. She knew the warrior was capable and strong, but she knew twolegs can be very dangerous for one cat to take on. Hauling herself to her paws she turned to her den to think about her next move.
